*Official EA Thread Class of 2017*

jgerez: i’m surprised you were deferred! did something go wrong with your application?

Those of you who are NMSFs, can you tell me if your scholarship award specifically mentions the NMF scholarship? My NMSF D was accepted, but only the $20K Dean’s scholarship is listed in award.

Oh- Wisconsin, white, 4.0/35/2280/8APs counting sr. year, music, music, music ECs, and small stuff like humane society and this and that.

celesteroberts: as NMSF, no, there wasn’t any mention of National Merit at all - same goes for a friend of mine, who’s also a NMSF. I assume when it comes time for NM Finalists to pick their top choice, they’ll hear from the admissions/FA office.

If you get in we’re rooming together and hanging a huge ass texas flag in our dorm room haha. #dontmesswithtexas

Accepted from PA. Undecided with Financial Aid pkg of $24,700/yr. Very Happy to be accepted but even with the generous FA it is still too expensive for me to attend. Unfortunately,I have to declare my father’s (NCP) income even though he will not be paying anything towards my education so it is not an accurate reflection of our true need as I am one of three kids that my mother is trying to get through college. Oh well…Congratulations to all Accepted! Northeastern is a Great School!

Accepted to the University Scholars Program (full tuition scholarship and honors)!! Applied as economics major in the College of Social Sciences.

Really surprised though…I was expecting to get in but not this. I just checked the website, and it sounds really awesome! Not originally one of my top choices…but now it’s probably in my top 3~4.

Brief stats: International, 2340 SAT, 3.8 GPA, most difficult course load, heavy music involvement (first chair) but no other significant leadership, creative essay about “intellectualism”

@celesteroberts - I’m NMSF and was admitted to Honors and only the Dean’s scholarship was mentioned. I’m assuming that after NMSF announces Finalists then we will either be contacted by NEU about the NMF scholarship or we will be contacting them. :-)

For National Merit Finalists:

You need to email or fax admissions the letter notifying you of of being a NMF. Include your NU ID number …

mjsharif- I was looking at your stats and said the same thing!
(Looks good, why???)

The admissions process is a mystery. she is applying to about a dozen schools. maybe if they see that, they choose to concentrate on the applicants with a greater liklihood of attendance?

Another thing is she hasn’t taken Physics or Calculus-they may think her senior year isn’t rigorous enough. She’s actually taking 2 APs and 1 honors course but that’s music.

maybe it has to do with which school you’re applying to - she is undecided.

when you get accepted, do you receive anything in the mail (formal letter, etc) after or is everything strictly online?

mylohlily - If your mother is the only one contributing with 3 kids in college, try contacting the university financial aid office and see if you can file a petition for special circumstances. I did that when my mother had to go on disability leave.

esm - You should get something in the mail. At least I did when I was accepted (3 years ago…) I only recall because there was a sticker included in it.
