Undecided is one of the more competitive choices to make in applying to NEU .

I understand there are only 200 slots with many more applicants applying undecided than they have room for. Other choices are much less competitive.

@lola1995 we have very similar stats! gives me faith for regular decision :)

I got accepted from looking online but I never recieved an email, is this bad? is something wrong with my email? did this happen to anyone else?

Does applying EA give you a higher chance at a scholarship? I am applying regular and I’m worried they will “run out” of scholarships.

MichLover --seems there is some latency with the notifications. Don’t worry too much; I would think you’ll receive an email shortly.

Can someone please explain to me why some of my less qualified friends were accepted EA and I wasn’t? I was pretty sure Northeastern was a target school for me, and yet I was deferred. Also, what are my chances of getting in RD now?

Any sort of reply would be extremely appreciated - I’m killing myself over here.

P.S. Does this mean that, if I do get in, I won’t receive financial aid because they didn’t want me early?

ambreylouise, I’m actually really surprised you weren’t accepted! (Is that your weighted or unweighted GPA?) You seem like a strong applicant, so I would expect you to be accepted in RD (but then again, I would have expected you to be accepted EA, too). How were your essays and letters of recommendation?

I wouldn’t necessarily rule out merit-based financial aid. You have strong statistics, and your application will be reviewed again with the rest of the RD applicants. And need-based financial aid shouldn’t be affected by EA vs. RD.

Thank you – that gives me at least a little relief! My GPA at high school is based on a 100 point scale, so I have a 96 weighted and according to most of my classmates that translates to a 4.0 so I’m going on that.

I thought my essay was pretty solid–not a crazy-interesting topic, but definitely a demonstration of my substantial writing skills.

I didn’t read the letters of recommendation from my teachers, but they were both very highly qualified and I did well in their classes so I would assume they wrote me good letters! I’m not too worried about that part.

Thank you very much for the response!!

So i was deferred to NEU and i wanted to know what i could do in order to get some what of an advantage in the regular admissions process. do you guys recommend calling and asking what my weaknesses were? Whats the best way to approach a deferral?

btw NEU is my Top, #1, a dream choice
