Have not yet visited. Can’t wait to come see Chapman ASAP!

shakespearefan, congrats! Once you have an opportunity to visit the campus, you’ll love it. I know my son was super impressed with the campus and Dodge (visited twice for guided and self-guided tours).

My admission status changed to “decision mailed” 1/31. I got a 29 on my ACT, i have a 3.5 weighted with an upward trend in all honors classes. I got a 4.0 when taking a course USC offers over the summer in film production. I won 3 awards with the short film i made there. I was a teacher’s assistant for the video class offered for high school kids at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. I took a 4week film course two summers ago. I’ve done photography and graphic design, i did basketball for two years, i was a volunteer coach for 4th grade girls basketball, i wrote on the paper, im the editor in chief for a literary arts magazine, i made a website for high school filmmakers, i had a radio show. i go to a great school. my sister goes to Chapman.

i don’t know.

i saw Chapman for the first time in 8th grade, and fell in love with it the second i laid my eyes on it.

I can’t imagine going to any other school.

unfortunately my GPA is low. unfortunately, i didn’t get a 30 on my ACT.

this waiting is killing me.

for all of those who are fortunate enough to see Chapman as a “safety school”, open your eyes.

you have the opportunity to be apart of something great. as counter intuitive as it may seem (as a kid who will try everything to get in), i urge all of you to consider it more than that.

for those who are looking into Chapman,

you’ve come across a goldmine few have yet to find.

jayjayjee
Seems to me your stats and extra curriculars certainly put you in the running for admission and in fact, many acceptances already posted have stats below yours! I hope you have good news to share with us soon. TrY Not tOo sTResS ouT ToO mUcH! (Easy to say; hard to do.) Sending positive thoughts in your direction right now…

jayjayjee,
I’m with shakespearefan: you sound very much like the kind of person that Dodge is looking for. Your passion and focus are evident, and a strong sense of great ‘fit’ for the school comes though loud and clear.
You are right in appreciating that Chapman/Dodge is an absolute jewel. I will cross my fingers and hope-hope-hope that you receive good news next week.
All the best, hang in there and let us know.

$15,000 Dean’s scholarship too!

Very good news, Angry! Which state are you from? DD, also accepted for film production, got an email from Dodge inviting her to a film event in NYC showcasing student films made by Chapman seniors and grad students. We are thrilled there is going to be an east coast event for those of us in this time zone. And she is so looking forward to meeting other students in film production. When you watch the video essays the students submitted (you can google them; some applicants have posted theirs) you really want to get to know some of these creative geniuses!

shakespearefan, unfortunately, we won’t be able to attend the east coast event as we’re in the mountain west. It sounds great though… a wonderful opportunity for incoming students to network and see films made by Chapman seniors and grad students. S is just recovering from 10 days of screenings at the 2012 SFF (several Dodge alumni had a film at the festival this year, as well as in years past). Not sure if S posted his video essay yet but will check out the videos submitted. I’m sure they’re all super creative! Also, totally agree with jayjayjee and gladiatorbird… Chapman is a jewel. S is really looking forward to meeting other students in film production as well.

Thanks for the help, ocelite.

Just committed! Hope to see all you wonderful people there this fall. :)

Way to go StrangeBro!

By the way, I’ve hijacked your use of “Pan-European” as an ethnicity – never heard that before – and am using that now. So on the mark!
