OFFICIAL Early Decision Applicants Thread (Columbia Class of 2014)

I've noticed that we have quite a few ED applicants here on CC so if you're applying Early Decision for Columbia's Class of 2014, come over and introduce yourself.

I'll start:

I'm an international applicant from Singapore, applying to the College to pursue interests in economics, literature and creative writing.

Sent in my Part 1 quite a while ago, and am spending time fine-tuning my Part 2. Planning to send in a creative writing supplement.

We need a thread like this, thanks srrinath!

I’m a half-Japanese-half-white girl from Southern California. I guess you could call me an introverted drama geek. I realize I’m aiming high when I say I want to become an actress, but hey, if it all goes down the drain, at least I’ll have my flawless Core education. :p

ED '14 baby!!

Full Korean male from state of Washington. First-gen going to college, choosing to major chemistry and maybe mathematics! Sent in part 1, got my interview done with and just workin on my essays now

Good luck everyone!!

I’m an ED applicant from Singapore. Applying to SEAS for materials science/applied physics/applied math. Sent in Part 1 in early September. Interviewer has contacted me to schedule an interview next week!

Good luck to all prospective Columbians!

ED! a russian from philadelphia, pa…
economics/biochem major?maybe? to the college
my interview is on saturday
…does anyone know when we find out ED decisions? like the exact day, i mean?

Im also applying ED to SEAS.
My downfall- 610 on critical reading.
Taking the SAT in October to improve it.

For the interview, does some random e-mail address show up in your inbox with a subject of Columbia Interview or something? Either I havn’t been contacted yet, or the e-mail is in my junk mail. I sent in Part 1 early September.

^ That’s what I received. The email address was the interviewer’s office address, and the email was titled “Columbia University Interview”.

I am also from the great land of Singapore, applying ED for CC. Submitted Part I on the day it came out, August 5th. No interview yet.

I guess I am on the other extreme huh?

ED to CC! White girl from Jersey. Sounds so uninteresting compared to all of you  No interview yet, I’m so surprised that a lot of you have already had yours! I hope I have one soon. Good luck to all :)

Phew, not everyone has been contacted about an interview yet. I thought it was just me!

MLELS, I submitted part one of my app about two weeks ago, and still haven’t been contacted, but I guess it hasn’t been that long all things considered. I’ll let you know when/if I do!

Sounds good. Its been about a month for me, and it’s not like I live out in the boondocks or anything, so I hope I get one eventually.

It’s unlikely that it’s in your junk. Your interview assignment is not a random computer generated mail. In my case I got a handwritten (well, figuratively speaking) email from my interviewer with the title “Your Columbia Interview”. I submitted Part 1 at the start of Sep.

Please note though, not everyone gets an interview and likewise, not having one will not disadvantage your app.

I know, but I want one nonetheless. How’d it go for you?

I haven’t had it yet. I’m having my finals until the 8th of Oct and I’ve requested that my interview be moved to then.

And yes, I felt the same way until I actually got my interview assignment. If I hadn’t gotten one, I would have felt cheated or shortchanged. Especially if I eventually get rejected.

ED '14. From Southern California. (Columbia College)

ED '14. Korean international. Went to a public school in Southern California.
Econ+Math major :)

Hey guys, by the way, there aren’t any places in Columbia App to put your AP scores in. Right??? I took A LOT of APs…and did well on most of them. Should I attach them in the additional info section???

You should request for official copies of your AP scores to be sent via the College Board. In any case, I think Part 2 has spaces for your AP scores but it may be best to verify that again.

Hey,
I’m applying ED to columbia too but I’m having some troubles with the application form.
After filling in part 1 where I have to pay the 75 dollars via credit card, I have to type in my address right, but the address field is really limited such that I can’t type beyond a certain number of characters and therefore I can’t type in my whole address.
Did anyone have this problem as well? Could anyone help me out?
Thanks alot guys.

Btw, I’m Korean but studying in Singapore now, haha taking A levels in a month.
All the best guys
