Official Early Decision Results Thread

<p>Did anyone who applied for PLME but said don't bind me to Brown get accepted as Early Decision?
Cause' I think the box may be the reason why I am deferred. :-(</p>

<p>haha, a bunch of us checked that box, most of us were deferred, but i doubt that's the reason</p>

<p>considering how hard it is to get in, you can't blame the box</p>

<p>i have been to depressed to post this until now.</p>

<p>Decision: DENIED</p>

<p>Stats:
ACT: 31
SAT: 690cr/720m/720w
GPA: 4.01 w, 3.7ish uw (i think?)
Rank: 40/484
Other stats: IB Diploma Candidate
Subjective:
Essays: i thought my essay was good; i am not sure about the short answers, though
Teacher Recs: both teachers said they were good, plus my principal wrote an (unsolicited) rec; he said that if i read it, it would make my ego too big. who knows? also an unsolicited alumnus rec
Counselor Rec: should have been good, we have a good relationship (as far as counselor-student relationships go; shes the leader for NHS)
Hook (if any): lots of extracurriculars; 3 years of mock trial (third in the state the past two years), national qualifier for speech and debate, state qualifier for speech and debate, 4 yrs class treasurer, nhs, founder/president of investment club, editor of literary arts magazine, on my city's cultural arts council, very active in local gov't (volunteered for America Coming Together last fall and am currently volunteering for a democratic candidate's governors campaign), did the summer at brown program, did a summer program at oxford university (uk) the summer before, on the IB student advisory council at my school (the IB programme is new here so i'm basically a student voice for how it's going, how to change/improve it, etc) ...blah blah blah. the list goes on (most people probably didnt even read this far; i wouldn't)
Location/Person:
State or Country: ohio
School Type: Public
Ethnicity: off-white
Gender: female
Other Factors: ? i have no idea. probably rejected because of my grades and lack of any spectacular/unique thing (i am not a world class mandolin player, have not published a children's book, i have not advised the president on drilling for oil in alaska...you know what i am tlaking about)
General Comments: blahhhh. pretty bummed. the three weeks i spent there this summer were soooo fabulous, i wanted nothing more than to go back....oh well</p>

<p>would have been more use to you earlier, but you might notice that 96% of the admitted students took the SAT's. It's not always the best idea to put yourself in the 4% minority group, especially when you aren't a world class mandolin player.</p>

<p>WAIT... i turned in ACT scores... and i love your "off-white" description, i found it to be hilarious.</p>

<p>I feel your pain, aderoberts; I had very similar stats, and I was, too, denied admission.</p>

<p>It'll all work out in the end, though; I just know it will, so don't be bummed out, and good luck with the rest of your college admissions!</p>

<p>Choco Brownie, sure seems that way</p>

<p>Orestes Got In!!! Orestes Got In!!!</p>

<p>yes, I'm also from Houston though....and I didn't get in, so......</p>

<p>does it really hurt your chances to use the ACT rather than the SAT? my SAT scores were 680 V / 670 M / 700 W, but I got a 33 on my ACT. I didn't even send in my SAT scores.</p>

<p>ACCEPTED!</p>

<p>imissatx, don't you need a Physics and Bio SATII for PLME?</p>

<p>hey guys...my online acceptance letter vanished and was replced by one telling me to check back in april...what's going on?</p>

<p>eh..i also have the same thing...</p>

<p>HaoLi, what HS do you go to? I go to Cy-Falls here in Houston</p>

<p>No. You just need to submit one SAT II score for science. If physics and bio are required, I would have been denied.</p>

<p>I go to North Crowley High School in South Fort Worth. Meidum sized average public school, we're only known for football when we won state in 4A two years ago.</p>
