Those stats are misleading and are only for Americans. You’re an international asking for aid – your chances are <10% at most places, and <3% at schools like Middlebury (of course, unless you’re a UWC kid) whether you ED or not. (not very surprising because colleges have a propensity for deferring kids.)

is it possible to get more aid or accepted in regular decision of same college if my legal status is changed in usa!
till now i am nepali citizen and if i get green card before regular decision will my aid increase?

@Spykid9849 How are you going to change your legal status in US in just 4-5 months?? If you were selected for dv-lottery also, you would have to first apply for visa, get to US and apply for green card that will take approx 8-9 months. LOL!! :D

What!! It would be the awesomeST thing on earth if you get a green card. A permanent resident of US is eligible for federal aid provided by US government which is really really huge. :D

But how’s that possible? Even if you were selected for DV lottery it will take approximately 1 year for you to obtain Green Card but if its the other way round you would definitely have a upper hand among us…

@nastik and @ameetbh123 i will get my green card within feb! so please suggest me
apply from nepal ED and demand for more need after i get green card or get to us and apply???

If you get your green card you’ll be eligible for US financial aid. This is a major plus as you will most likely get significant aid. You need to look at when FAFSA (the US finanical aid application form) is due compared to when you anticipate getting your green card. If you’ll get your green card after you need to have turned in the form, contact the school of your choice directly, explain the situation, and ask if you could be considered for aid after the deadline.

Colgate is in my list. I’m not sure whether I’ll ED to Colgate or not. Well, my decision will depend on my test scores. what are your test scores feyman10 ? I guess it would be better to compare test scores with other folks who’re planning to take early decision in the same college.

ED needs research people. I am not saying that you won’t be getting into good colleges like Williams, Amherst or even NYUAD by applying ED. You might but it is hard. I applied to a high prospect college in ED and failed last year.
Do your research. Even if you have a 2200+ and all A*s in your grades you cannot expect to get into Williams, Amherst , NYU and Colgate. Research all and see that ED is not wasted. Do not expect to learn from ED and hope for RD. Get into ED. Even if you don’t you will learn.
ED is your greatest weapon and greatest suicide trap. If you use it well then you have months to consider (I assume this because everyone is applying for aid) and if you lose it then I think you will have to got to safety if your SAT is good. Else it is hard. Take this advice from a old guy(lol)!
