Official ED Applicants 2014

The freshman applicant instructions say Nov 7 is the last SATII date for early decision so I don’t think you will have any problem. I doubt you are the only person who took exams on that date and applied ED to Rice. My advice is to let Rice know you have scores pending from the Nov testing and then relax; your file will be reviewed like all other EDers.

hah i cant wait either! are you guys from texas?
yeah my teacher rec hasnt even gotten into rice yet! ughh

MSmom&dad - thanks for your reply. I’ve also sent emails to Rice Apps - yet to hear confirmation on this point.

Hello! Just to follow up to the question on dorms and stuff, even though you might not like the setup of your college, you’ll still grow to love your college. You eventually get used to the system without too much trouble. I live in Duncan and it’s got a fantastic set-up. All double rooms have an en suite bathroom. Don’t worry about which college you get into, each one is unique and has its own character and traditions.

I’m really scared – my guidance counselor faxed my transcript/school forms to Rice directly and they emailed me to say they received it on Tuesday, but it still hasn’t processed and showed up on my ESTHER account and I need it to have processed by this Monday…

ahhhh!!!

don’t worry about it. as long as they received it you’re ok

The Rice admissions counselors are pretty understanding people… I didn’t send my transcript/counselor recommendation until after winter break was over, and that was January 7th or so (I applied RD), and here I am going to Rice.

^same. I had to send some stuff by mail that didn’t reach for ages because I’m an international student but I sent an e-mail to the admissions office and they were really understanding.

Well hey, I worried for nothing – it was processed today and my app is complete! Hooray!

Okay, so since I’m unsure about where I’m planning to apply other than Rice, I’m wondering where other Rice EDers are applying, and why =]

hah yeah mine just said my application was complete to thank god i was worried sick!!
im kinding either doing Rice, UT Vanderbilt, or Trinity
im probaly going to go to UT if i dont get into rice thoguh

I’m a Rice ED’er and I’m applying to Northwestern, UChicago, USC, and Duke. I applied to these schools also just because I liked the atmosphere and the learning curriculum there…etc.

Oh, and I also applied to UT Business, where I’ve already been accepted, so that’ll be my backup if I don’t get in ANYWHERE else haha.

hha yes i really do like Ut im going to do buisness there. i think there buisness is superior to rice, but i just LOVE the rice atmosphere to much, even though they dont have a buisness program as great at UT’s

do you guys know when we get out notfication? i heard RD they usually get it earlier, so do you think ED would getit earlier to?

Batman2, I did the same thing with my SAT IIs and I sent an email to the admissions office. They said its fine, and they well look at the SATs when they come in on the 24th. I still hate seeing “Incomplete” on my Esther account though!

Cocoa, I looked at the ED forum from last year, and people were getting their financial aid awards the day before! so if you requested financial aid, you might actually get the notification on the 14th.

I can’t stand the waiting…it seems like Dec 15 is an eternity from now!

jspecht - thanks, I got a similar reply from Admissions also.

guys I just got a letter today informing me that i was missing the subject tests which i took on Nov. 7. the scores had to be sent by 5 pm today but I sent it in around 7pm. will they still accept it?

@ jcarroll6: same!

@noaveragegenius: I would call the admissions office first thing tomorrow. I have slowly learned how accommodating Rice is and I am sure it won’t be a big deal…but it’d be best to confirm this.
