I was too excited to fight with the code.

You guys need to chill out with the "acceptances first, rejections later". Its not true. Period, thats it. Like someone said, people who are accepted need to exclaim to the world that they were accepted while rejected people are obviously not so anxious.... anyone realize almost no rejections have been posted? Its because any rejected applicants are either going to wait to post or won't post at all...

CAS seems harder than Gallatin + Tisch, IMHO.

firewalker, as a CAS student, I can tell you that CAS is not harder to get into than Tisch, well, Tisch drama anyway. The thing with CAS is that they can refer their 'weaker' students to gsp, Tisch drama doesn't. Gallatin looks for a different type of student, basically, than CAS, and it's a very small school, so in some ways, it's tougher there even though the stats aren't generally as high. For Tisch drama people, though, they have to have the good stats as well as a good audition. And all the Tisch kids I know are smart AND talented. So there ya go. ;)

"And all the Tisch kids I know are smart AND talented"

Wow matth, you must know a whole different set of Tisch people than I, lol. From what I've observed, some Tisch kids are indeed very brilliant, especially in film where I'm amazed by some of the students, but some others clearly would not have gotten in if it wasn't for their portfolio/audition/whatever, and no offense to anyone but some of them are dumb rocks when it comes to academics.

A lot of Tisch people also seem to have their own crowd here. I'm a CAS freshman, and I mostly hang out with people from either CAS or Stern. This is not to say NYU is segregated by school, it's just what I've observed in my time here.

ABirch, it's funny you should say that because the Tisch F/Tv kids I've met are not the smart ones I was referring to, and it's born out by the stats every year and the fact that some F/tv kids go into GSP. I'm a sophomore so different friends probably. The friends I'm talking about at Tisch are drama kids and I can assure you they're smart. All but one that I can think of had higher stats than mine and I received the largest merit scholarship that NYU awards so there ya go. They're all in Atlantic, though, which I guess isn't that surprising because that studio has the rep for taking the smart ones. All of them are double majoring in CAS too and ya can't do that without being smart. :)

Hmm, I guess we know different people Matth. The reason I mentioned film is because it is among the best departments in the nation and reputed to have the lowest acceptance rate of any Tisch program (less than 5% from what I hear). I know someone from my high school a year above me who turned down Yale for Tisch film but also know a drama girl in one of my MAP recitations that is the joke of his class as indicated by her ignorant comments (and everyone else agrees so it's not me), so experiences can vary. I do think that Tisch probably has the biggest range of any NYU school as far as academic stats of the students are concerned.

i got into stern yesterday!! ill post stats later

ssarkar do u think all Stern letters are out? I live in Bronx...not far at all from NYU..and still haven't heard

I live in Idaho, does anyone think I'll get my letter by Saturday

i think most Stern letters are out. Especially if you live in the 5 boroughs you should have received it already. Good luck.

two others that applied to stern from my school have yet to hear
