oh man, i feel it in my bones, im going to get in...

[/quote]

There's one line from Harry Potter (I know, don't poke fun!) that I remember for some reason: Hermione is going, "I can't work, I can't concentrate..." That's how I feel right now, all jangly and nervous.... I have mounds of work to do for tomorrow but can't think of anything but Princeton.

Has anyone else noticed that nervous anticipation is a physical, prickly feeling?

Come into my thread for my 3000th party!!

Congrats zant! This means you go into Princeton!

HAPPY 3000TH!!!! now its 4000 almost!

It's time to revive this thread!

[*] Why do you think you got deferred/admitted: surely the math medals played a BIG role, i was very afraid about the essays... i had a decent well-roundness for a math freak...[/ul]

I know for a fact that your math helped a lot. When my son visited the math department, they told him about you. Hopefully, he will be joining you and you will be Putnam teammates. He'll know this afternoon. Congratulations!!!!!!!!

Wow, cookiemom!

I think it's a confusion, though :D
My contest wasn't Putnam, but a contest called IMC. I think your son might have heard about a girl from Romania, who ranked top 5 at Putnam last year (in freshman year)! I know her, actually, she's veeery smart and ambitious! So it's her, i think... I doubt that i've become that math-famous blushes :):)

The best of luck to your son, I hope for the best!

And it would be great to compete at Putnam together with him. Yea!!

Pavalon, congrats! I'm happy for you!!

No, it was you. "Romanian National Team, competed in the IMO," I just said Putnam because you'll both be on the Putnam team at Princeton. S has only done USAMO.

Congratulations Pavalon!! Just seeing you guys get in is making me happy, lol... ahh so nervous. I really really hope mine is just as good

wow Pavalon! Congratulations!!!
:)

Congratulations, man!!!! You deserve it!

I'm still shivering for my Bates decision.

Ok so this is my first post hands up but i discovered this site last week and suffered the pre-decision emotions with you guys. I also applied early decision to Princeton and got an acceptance letter this morning!
So thought i might post my stats to help those who like to compare and evaluate their own chances (I've been there):

Decision: ACCEPTED
Stats:
SAT1: 1450 (730m 720v)
SAT2s:800 french, 720 maths IC, 710 writing
GCSE's: 11 A*s
AS: 5 As (maths, physics, history, latin, french)
A Level: predicted 4 As
School doesn't rank, but probably top 10 out of 180

Subjective:
Essays: very good
teacher recs: extremely good
counselor rec: extremely good (i think)
Hook: Not sure... probably a combination of things.

Location/person:
Place: London
School type: private
Ethnicity: white (french/lebanese)
gender: male

Other factors: Scholar, prefect, club captain, 4 varsity sports (rugby, soccer, tennis, ski), I can speak 3 languages (english, french, arabic) and I think my interview went pretty well.

so I'm overjoyed right now, especially because a great friend of mine at school also got admitted. I would also like to say well done to all the other people who got accepted. Those of you who got deferred, don't worry about it, try to think positive.

the girls love british guys here... you'll have a great year!

zante dahling...I'm back.

token asian my butt. I'm not token anything--maybe the size of one, but that's really beside the point. I got stepped on by a freshman the size of an elephant this morning--it made me snarly and bitter. he didn't even notice.

lordy lord, what are they feeding kids nowadays?

anyways. at school at the moment, ready to go home and stand outside my mailbox. I've got all my other applications done. as in ready to send out at the click of a button. :) I also set up three mousetraps last night. wonder if there going to be mouse casserole for dinner.

hm. perhaps token psychotic. you need one of those in every school. gives flavor like the occasional chef's finger...

tried to avoid this thread in order to preserve my self-esteem. as you can see, failed. zante--we will have that mudfight. (if we sell tickets, you'll get half?)

had two bottles of Jolt and a pack of M&Ms. don't worry, if I do get accepted, I'll stay on the other side of the campus. and yes, I had a creative essay.

I GOT IN! OH MY GOOOOOOOOOOOOOODDDDDDDDDD!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats man.
