[] Teacher Recs: Didn't see them.
[] Counselor Rec: Didn't see it.
[] Hook (if any): 1.) Visual arts. I've studied drawing and painting for nine years. I submitted a portfolio that my instructors have told me was good enough to gain acceptances into some elite art schools.
2.) Creative writing. This was my HUGE hook. I've done programs at Duke and Stanford university with professional authors. I also study under Pulitzer finalist Dave Eggers, Pulitzer winner Michael Chabon, and author Vendela Vida. Dave Eggers wrote a recommendation letter to me that was submitted to the creative writing department and he also helped me edit my creative writing portfolio.

[li] major strength/weakness: My math scores sucked. But this goes to show that perfect stats are NOT everything. Passion in admissions carries a long way. I made it very clear to the admissions department I wanted to go to Princeton for the writing program, and I let my love of writing and literature carry through my entire application.[/li][/ul]Other Factors: Can't think of any.

Congrats, CJ!!!!!! I hope I join you.

Legend: I'm so sorry---but maybe (since UVa seems to be on everyone's list) we'll have a mass Princeton exodus and go to beautiful VA! Wahoo!

congrats, c_j! Princeton '09...wow...

I'm so sorry for all those deferred. But April's just right around the corner (seriously, the time from August to now is the same as from now to April, roughly, and this time went by so quickly). I want you guys in! Pronto! hugs

C_J...I promise I won't plagiarize...I'm curious though, is there any way I can read your essays?

CONGRATS TO ALL NEW PRINCTONIANS!!!!!

<3 The YALE Board

Encomium-- Sure. Their subject matters are such that it'd be blatantly obvious if you tried to plagiarize, anyway. :-p

Drop me a PM with your email address.

As for the deferrals....you guys, I was SO sure I was going to get deferred. I've been in a state of depression for the past few weeks because of it, and I feel for you. Please, do NOT give up on Princeton. My sister was waitlisted at the Georgetown School of Foreign Service (which notoriously takes almost no one off the waitlist), but she didn't give up. She wrote a hearfelt letter to the committee and gathered five recommendations from teachers. Her pursuit paid off in the end. Keep trying! Around 15% of you can make it in the regular round! That is still much, much better than the 8.8% acceptance rate for RDers. Good luck!

Yeeaa not helping.
I really must leave.

Congrats to everyone accepted, I was deferred, I'm too tired to put it in the form so here are my stats. I'm surprised I got my mail so quickly here being in Seattle WA and all.

could I also take a look at your essay? I'm nowhere near your level and I'd like to look at the work of a master bows down I make a mean non-cook (for good reasons) cheesecake...if I send you an e-cake...

yes, that was a shameless bribe :-D I challenged zante to a mud-wrestling contest.

Well, all----I'm off, and I'll not be back on (I think) until I've gotten my decision tomorrow. Good luck!
