To all those who applied early decision to Amherst College this year, this is your thread! :)

Anyone get an application status email indicating if all materials have been received from Amherst yet?

Nope. They say they’ll send out an email within a few days of receiving your application materials, so I’m going to guess sometime this week since tomorrow is when the admissions office opens again and begins reviewing early applications!

Sigh Weight has been lifted off my shoulders.

Also, do we get an Amherst log in to check our status at some point?

Hahaa I know exactly how you feel. And yeah, we’ll probably get it sometime this week!

still havent received a letter from amherst… has anyone else?

yeah i just got one

ok i have too. But the AC data says I havent submitted my Mid Year report from my counselor yet. I thought the SR report was all that was needed. Should I Fed-ex my Mid Year report, or do they need it after admission decisions? Because Early Decisions are posted before semester grades are out.

Let me add to that. Is Mid Year report just like the counselor reference? And the First Marking Grades are First Quarter grades or first semester grades, because I thought they didnt look at first quarter grades as they are unofficial. Unofficial meaning, useless without being combined with the second quarter grades.

I am pretty sure you will have to send in your mid-year report when your first semester grade come out. I doubt they need you to submit the quarter grades.

why did you guys apply to amherst? I’d like my decision to apply ED validated

Yeah, I got an email today too! :D

And candidsquare, why did you commit ED if you weren’t sure and need validation hahaa?

Should I be concerned that I didn’t get an email today? Is it because I submitted my application on Monday night?

Probably. It was due Monday.

Heads up to applicants: I’ve received my online account info, so if you haven’t yet it may be cause for concern.

Geeezzzzz… just checked in the site after being out of town for a week. D1AO (one and only) has received confirmation of all the usual input “stuff” with a waiver on SATII, ACT composites and subtests. She did well on the SATII’s but… ok, fine, moving forward.

Regardless, the next 3+ weeks are going to be hell. The “hell” being the waiting, waiting, waiting… for the December 15 pronouncements. Gawd… my apologies, but this is truely our first-and-only. Darling Daughter (DD) is doing fine but we parents are not. It’s likely very, very typical but… geeeezzzzzz… it’s not easy when it’s YOUR daughter (or son) and it affects… ohhh… the rest of their lives and you are sitting there saying “just be patient, just relax, all will be ok, calm… breathe… juuuuust be patient”.

Gawd, am I the only parent feeling this way?

It’s raining outside. That didn’t distract me long enough…

Amherst mails the admittance letters, right? So if they mail them on the 15th, when can people in New England expect to receive the letters? Is the 16th too optimistic?

Actually, q11w1e1r1t1, they mail them the week of the 15th. Probably between the 10th and the 12th. So you’ll get it by the 15th, unless you’re international or something.

Are you sure they don’t notify you through email as well?
