<p>Is there anything insightful about Amherst people thought they learned in the chat? Other than that emails are going out on the 14th :(</p>
<p>Uhhhh, not really. I went to another chat last month and students tend to ask the same types of questions over and over.</p>

There’s a high-quality, large-format photo printer in the campus center. Score.
There’s a good place to get wings late at night. Score.
Kids typically get into their first- or second-choice freshman seminar. Score.</p>

<p>Just got an email entitled “Amherst College Early Decision Notification” and I FLIPPED OUT! But then I opened it and it was like just about emails coming out Tuesday evening. So not cool hahaa I got so excited :/</p>
<p>i just saw it too! i got so scared, but i decided to come on here and see if it was really a decision or if it was just a notification.

<p>I know!! I was in the middle of my newspaper class, and I looked over my shoulder to see if anyone was watching, and opened it. What a scare!</p>

<p>i asked the admissions people on chat what the chances were for and international applicant and they said that intern’ls usually get deferred so they can compare all of them at RD</p>

<p>I have a brother who is at Amherst right now and applied ED. Do you think having him there is much of a benefit for admissions?</p>

<p>kim1g428, when they see that you were deferred into the RD round they will know that you applied ED meaning that amherst is your number one choice. that will show them that you’re totally committed to the college and you’ll definitely come if selected.</p>
<p>But I know there were Chinese applicants who got admitted in ED in the past. Maybe because they are truly impressive…or the admission office just changes their policy for intern’ls this year…
I am an internatioanl applicant…(and I think this policy is not fair if it’s true. Of course Amherst has the right to choose the best students, but deferring someone to wait for other applicants? not a persuasive reason, at least for me = =ll)</p>

<p>Are we assuming ‘late in the day Tuesday’ means sometime around the Office of Admissions’ usual 4:30 (Eastern) close?</p>
<p>Yeah, that’s what dean Nancy said on the Admissions Chat. I’m thinking either 4:30pm or 5:00pm but no later.</p>
