western or eastern time?

Eastern time.

I have a Calculus midterm spread over Monday and Tuesday and there is a 0% chance that I’ll be able to focus on studying. This is painful.

Less than 48 hours. Need to stop refreshing CC and amherst.edu.

When did DeanNancy say between 4:30 and 5? I must have missed that during the chat. I don’t want to get my hopes up like last time.

We should have a thread game or something so that when we revisit this page there’s actually something to do…

Found this online:

Degenerating Sentence Game

1) Repeat the meaning of the sentence.
1a) English only.
2) Ban a word.
3) No banned words can be used for the remainder of the round.
3a) variations on root words are also considered banned.
4) 1 point awarded for every 5 banned words before the final sentence. (Scores should be able to get absurdly high this game)
5) Please bold the word you are banning and Italicize the sentence.
6) Have fun! (NOT OPTIONAL!)

to begin the first sentence will be a pretty simple one:

I hope I get accepted!

Banning the word Accepted

Banned Words: Accepted

(so to sum this up, the next person needs to post a sentence with the same meaning, but can’t use the word accepted, then that player bans a word. The player after that person then most post the sentence, but without using the words banned by all previous players.)

I hope I get in!
Ban: get

And jroberson11, some kid on the admissions chat was like “Just ‘late in the day’? No specific time?” And Dean Nancy said “Around 4:30pm or some time after.” It makes sense since that’s when the admissions office closes.

I hope I end up going to Amherst
banned: Amherst

DID ANYONE ELSE APPLY FOR FA?

I hate to break up the game right now, but I just stumbled upon something on the FA website and now I’m freaking out. I submitted my CSS profile on time, but it says we had to submit “2009 or 2010 Tax Returns by November 15”…were those included in the CSS profile? Or were they separate? If they are a separate form to be mailed to the college, then I don’t think I ever sent them. Will I not be eligible for FA now? Because even if I do get into Amherst, I need a lot of aid… :(

I pray I make it!

Banning the word: pray
Banned Words: accepted, get, Amherst

elbeeen, the best course of action is probably to email the financial aid office.

Elbeeen-

I applied for FA as well and tax returns were to be sent in separately from the CSS Profile. Call the FA Office tomorrow and hopefully they will be able to work something out for you.

@elbeen I also apply for FA. I send my CSS online and send my parents’ tax returns of 2009( The 2010 one has not come out) by mail. I think you should contact the admission office immediately if you get accepted.

I hope I can receive an admission letter on 12/13 morning(I’m in GMT+8 zone).
Banning the word: Admission

Yikes! Hopefully they’re understanding about my humongous screw up haha. Thanks a ton for the advice guys!

Actually, one more question!

When I submitted my CSS, I never got the “IDOC” which is apparently necessary as stated on the FA website.

Applying for Financial Aid | First-Year & Transfer Students | Amherst College;

Does anyone know what the IDOC is? Ugh, I am soooo confused now -_-

It is said that IDOC is not coming out until Feb.

Ohhhhh! So all I need to do send in right now is CSS (which I did) and tax returns? 2 items? That sounds a lot less complicated. Thank you bindsage, you’ve been a tremendous help!

I still think you should ask a domestic applicant. Because I’m an international applicant and that infor I read about IDOC is for Harvard. Here is the complete one:

IDOC processing will begin in early February 2011. At that time you will be emailed instructions on how and where to submit your tax documents through the College Board’s IDOC service. Unless you are instructed otherwise, do not submit your 2010 tax documents directly to the colleges listed above. Wait for your IDOC notification email to arrive in February, and then follow the instructions for submitting your documents to the College Board at that time. (If you are applying to colleges in addition to those listed above, follow their instructions for submitting tax returns and other documents.)

I hope this can help you. :)

IDOC isn’t available for domestic applicants until February as well. Just mail in the tax returns.

Thanks to both of you!
