Official ED Thread Class of 2014!

I agree with woosah that the SAT hate is annoying.
I don’t know about intelligence, but the SAT does tell colleges one thing, the applicants ability to study for and take a test, which is what we’ll be doing for college. It’s also one of the few things in an application that can be compared to every other application.

SAT’s don’t measure intelligence, but they do measure how much you care about going to college. Theyre making it easy for us. it’s simple. IF YOU WANT TO GET INTO A GOOD COLLEGE, all u have to do is study for ONE test, and 2 subject tests (other than doing well in school). If you do well in school, you can easily do well on the SAT’s. JUST STUDY. I went through H*** studying over the summer and got a good score, and got into NYU despite my unimpressive average. SO If you did bad on the SAT’s, it’s your fault, too bad.

hey this is a total topic change, but did anyone who was accepted ed and applied for financial aid not receive anything? the packet said to check online, but i couldn’t find it on the link they gave.

zoe: Give your parents your NYU ID and have them call the office. The status check doesn’t work for us as we’re not NYU students yet. My mom called and they said they were working on it and to call back right before winter break if it’s not received.

I wish there was a test that really showed your readiness for college… but I honestly don’t think there is.

Background on me: I have a 3.82 GPA, unweighted. I took 2 APs last year, Bio & Psych, and got 5s on both of those after studying hard all year and a copious amount before APs. I had a 4.0 both semesters last year, and it looks like I’ll be getting a 4.0 this semester with 4 APs. I know some of you have a higher courseload than I do - I’m just telling you where I’m coming from. I did well enough on my PSAT to make National Merit Semifinalist - a 221. I took a course. I read 3 SAT books, did all the practice tests. I went online and did multiple SAT practice tests. My score on the SAT? A 2040. I took it again this month, but I doubt much changed. On the ACT, I didn’t do nearly as much prep - meaning, I skimmed through a prep book - and got a 36. I know, for certain, that a 2040 on the SAT does not accurately reflect my potential for work in college.

In my opinion, the best example of how you’ll do in a college setting as far as studying for tests goes? The AP tests. Those are information based, so you either know your stuff or you don’t. Fairly simple, in my mind. So while I agree everyone complaining about their SAT scores nonstop is a bit ridiculous… I don’t think it’s fair to say that your SATs are an accurate reflection of how well you’ll do in college - and certainly not how smart you are.

Still no letter :(

I also haven’t gotten my letter yet, which they said was because I had an interview with them late as well as being sent to be reviewed at a different board. But, I would really like it now. Bad or good, it is better to know now so I can just move on.

Pre-Med.

Anyone else?

Accepted today for Stern 2014
Whoo!

I wanna get my letter holy crap

so…it HAS to come tomorrow…right? :/

that’s what i’m thinking or saturday and admissions said if it doesnt come by monday you have to call them

beeegee: yes that’s what I heard as well. there could be something wrong with the mail service…just call tomorrow. wish you good luck!

I’m very confused about the pre-professional programs. I’m interested in the 7 year dentistry program, can anyone PM me and explain how it works? Thanks in advance!

Accepted to New York University Liberal Studies Program. Couldn’t be happier :)

I was just accepted into NYU’s Liberal Studies Program. At first, I was a little dissappointed but now I’m actually quite excited about it.

I accepted the offer to be admitted and selected the NYC campus. However, this RSVP ISN’T binding right? I still have quite a few other schools to hear back from, and I want to keep my options open! Also, because I answered the LSP offer, does this mean I’m officially in or do I have to wait to April 1st to be actually accepted?
