*Accepted to Tufts University, EDII, Class of 2012: *

Stats:[ul]
[] SAT Verbal: 720
[] SAT Math: 680
[] SAT Writing: 730
[] SAT Total: 2130 (1400 CR+M)
[] SAT II: 690 World History in 10th grade, 620 BiologyM in 9th grade
[] ACT: N/A
[] AP/IB taken/scores: 4 in WH, 3 in USH
[] GPA weighted: N/A
[] GPA unweighted: 3.8
[] Rank or % estimate: not given

[/ul]Subjective:[ul]
[] Essays: Not completely sure what to say here. My Common App essay was about my high school journalism mentor, my 50-word interest snippet was about my interest in the IRP and IGL programs. One of my two Tufts supplemental essays was about how my parent's views (and actions) related to education, both in times of comfort and in times of relative hardship. The second supplemental essay was about my move from a top high school to a sub-par (super-sub-par?) high school, the way I dove into work and school/community ECs to keep myself on my toes, and how I eventually went to college a year early.
[] Teacher Recs: I think they were all stunning.
[] Counselor Rec: Same. I was closer to my GC than any other student in the grade so I'm assuming her recommendation was excellent.
[] Hook (if any): not sure

[/ul]Location/Person:[ul]
[] State or Country: NY
[] School Type: Public
[] Ethnicity: International applicant (born in Nigeria but lived in NY past 10 years) so I guess I'm a black international? Don't know if that helps or hurts or has no effect, but at the end of the day, this is probably the stat that I least care to mention or think of. Oh, well! On we go...
[] Gender: Male
[] Legacy Yes/No: No
[] Recruited Yes/No: No
[li] Important ECs: Headed the school newspaper, Interact, and SADD, worked at a kid's museum, at a hospital, and for a presidential campaign. Student government rep, and a few other things.
[/li]

[/ul]Other Factors:

Went to an early college program for 07-08 (currently in second semester), and received a good GPA first semester. Probably proved a willingness to "chart my own path," "break away from unsatisfactory conditions," (that is, leave a bad high school instead of accepting that situation), or something to that effect. I also spoke to a professor at Tufts over the phone during his office hours, and worked for a short time with a few people who were Tufts alum.

General Comments/Congratulations/etc:
To those who did not gain acceptance: Keep your head up! The game of admissions is, unfortunately, a bit like roulette. Sometimes you hit, sometimes you miss. You probably do deserve to get into a fine institution, and you most likely will. If you really love Tufts, there is the option of transferring in, or going to Tufts for med school or grad school. Be happy, and don't let this single rejection bring you down.

To everybody who will be part of Tufts 2012 with me: CONGRATS! We've earned and we deserve this. We're about to get an education at one of the best institutions on the planet. ** Get ready to rock Medford/Boston/Somerville/the world! **

Accepted!! And so so so ridiculously excited!!
I don't really want to post my specific stats, but they'll probably fall around the general range... mid-700 SATs, high GPA, fairly interesting ECs... so yeah!

Subjective:
Essays: good, mostly about my interest in international relations

Ethnicity: asian
Gender: female
Legacy Yes/No: no
Recruited Yes/No: no
Important ECs: model un, FBLA, math competition, writing (published essays on newspapers) etc

General Comments/Congratulations/etc:
no info session, no campus visit, no interview...but oh my gosh i got in!!
according to Tufts' website, only 2 Chinese students got in in 2006. this year, im one of those few lucky ones!!
congratulations and happy Chinese New Year!!! (it was on Feb 7 and now its year of the rat^^)

The love of my life is at Tufts, I thought I would certainly be accepted, but now I hope that I can keep our relationship alive through college.
I was denied, and it just doesn't make sense to me because I had fairly average scores and GPA for Tufts, and I was a recruit for soccer.

MY Denied Stats:

SAT Verbal: 650
SAT Math: 710
SAT Writing: 730
SAT Total: 2090
SAT II: Math I (760), Literature (690), World History (690)
GPA Weighted: 3.75
GPA Unweighted: 3.25
I had a 3.8 unweighted (4.3 weighted) throughout this first semester of senior year, which I thought would help me. The love of my life has helped me reach my potential by truly teaching me self-discipline, and I do not know what I will do without her by my side next year. Tufts is lucky to have her, stripping her from all my love, and taking all that is meaningful to me. I don't know what to do, I thought we would be able to kiss on the library roof, and I could play soccer and represent the Jumbos at Bello field, but now, now that dream is gone and I am crushed.

My child got accepted, low to mid 700s on SAT I's and II's but for writing, which was very high, excellent grades. I'm thrilled for my child, I've heard so many great things about the college, both in the industry I work in and in people who've gone there. Congrats to all others who got in. For those who didn't, don't despair, there are many other choices!

I was accepted ED1. I don't know if posting my stats will help or not, since this is an ED2 thread. But I will...maybe they can help someone.

SAT II: U.S. History - 720, Literature - 710
ACT: I took it twice with a 31 each time, but it's a 33 if superscored
AP/IB taken/scores: AP U.S. History - 5, AP Lang. and Comp. - 5
GPA weighted: N/A
GPA unweighted: 3.8
Rank or % estimate: top 5% (10 out 213)

Essays: Pretty good, I'd say they were unique
Teacher Recs: My english teacher, I had him for sophomore and junior year, plus study hall freshman year - so he knew me really well
Counselor Rec: We are closer than most counselors and students are, so I'm sure it was a good rec
Hook (if any): Not sure

State or Country: Maine
School Type: Public
Ethnicity: White
Gender:Female
Legacy Yes/No: No
Recruited Yes/No: No
Important ECs: Vice President for Latin Club, Historian for French Club
Other Factors: first generation college student, disadvantaged backgroud I guess

CLASS OF 2012!
