I WANT TO TELL EVERYONE THAT IT IS AMBITION THAT WILL GET YOU WHERE YOU WANT TO GO. MY FAITH AND WORK HAS PAID OFF. I WISH EVERYONE THE BEST OF LUCK IN THEIR COLLEGE DECISION. REMEMBER THAT NUMBERS AREN’T ALWAYS THE DECIDING FACTOR…

Are all those acceptances to Emory or to Oxford at Emory?? i guess there are Oxford’s acceptances!! because a friend of mine was accepted with an 26 ACT but she is accepted at Oxford not Emory… big difference!!!

Emory University is made up of several different collges. Most universities are made up of various colleges within their university system. Sometimes students even have to be accepted into two different colleges within one university system to pursue the degrees they are interested.

S is an accepted student at Emory University in the Oxford College. He is no less an Emory University student than are the students in the Woodruff School of Nursing or the Goizueta Business School or the Emory College.

Oxford is simply a two year component of the university system where students can elect to spend their first two years in smaller classes, with more leadership positions and closer bonding with their professors and classmates. For these opportunites, they give up the big school social scenes, the wider variety of course offerings and the ability to blend into the crowd unseen. You go to sleep in class and the teachers know it!

Students looking at Oxford as only a back door into Emory or who will see themselves as less of an Emory University Student, probably should look at other school options as they will probably resent the rural small school atmosphere and not do as well as they would somewhere else. JMHO

it is true that oxford is “easier” to get into than Emory. However, I agree that especially since students join with Emory college later, these students are still emory students and should not be considered less so simply because of what campus they are on.

Haha I’m kinda anxious now that I got rejected from UCB and UCLA, but I keep telling myself that their admit rates were artificially deflated by the budget cuts. And plus, I was borderline in the range of people normally admitted there. So 3pm (for me) won’t come soon enough, though 3 rejections from the UC’s in a row will do a lot to hurt your confidence ;)

You can disagree with me, but the truth is that Oxford College is just one more component of Emory Univerisity, no matter what you personally think. And if you use a little common sense and some mathmatical skills, you could probably think out a reason for why Oxford’s acceptence % is 34 compared to Emory Colleges’s 27.

Give it some thought and see what you come up with without any more clues than that. ;)

Notice, there’s no acceptance rate in these statistics. please tell me there’s no difference between emory and oxford.

There is still no difference. Emory Colleg and Oxford College are both Emory University. When college is over, both have the exact same Emory University diploma.

Once more, use a little common sense and try to figure out why the stats are different as well as the acceptance rate (which I gave you above).

I’m sure a bright kid like you can figure it out. :)

ok, my D has 3.8 uwgpa and 5.7 wgpa also 800/680/650 in sat II and 700/680/620 in sat I, also 31 act… where do you think she belongs? i’m sure she can be at Emory! because Oxford for her will not be a challenge… but i know also that she doesn’t have very high stats for an acceptance…
