Penn State is really starting to be annoying, everyone of my friends who applied received admission but I still haven’t gotten an answer. I’m not stressing as I probably will get into such a low-ranked university but they’re still being very annoying.

I agree. I emailed an admissions rep on Dec. 7 who assured me that I would have a decision “in a couple of weeks” which led me to believe I would have heard something prior to Christmas. No such luck.

beachprincess1: I don’t know if it matters what you pick (I think biomed was my 2nd choice), because you’re offered acceptance to the College of Engineering, not for your specific major.

Engineering students do not enter a specific department until junior year, sophomore year for architectural engineering. (I believe this is different for students in the SHC.) There are some departments with enrollment caps in place, which ensures adequate resources (faculty, lab space) for the most popular majors (aerospace, architectural, mechanical, not sure which others). In aero and arch, for example, the top 100 students who choose the major are admitted, though any student with a B average is guaranteed admission to the program.
