Deferred and Rejected mean the same thing. You didn't get to be a Semifinalist for Emory Scholars, and if you are a RD applicant, your application will be reviewed again with the rest of the RD pool.

i thought rejected means flat out, rejected, no chance whatsoever.

General Comments/Congratulations/etc: Well congrats to everyone who got in, but I'm withdrawing my application... hopefully someone else can get in instead of me

UPenn is a great school, have fun

still havent heard either way anyone else not heard? i did ed II

Plano?? That school is freaking amazing. At least at AcaDec. ^^

??? whats acadec

Academic Decathlon. It covers the ten subjects of art, music, language and literature, math, science, social science, economics, interview, speech, and essay. It's pretty amazing. And Plano and nationals are pretty hardcore.

Thanks... I hope you guys have a great time at Emory... I have a couple of friends who go there... They love it.

I heard for semi-finalists, Emory offers 14k a year guarenteed

rejected here..

sorry too lazy to do the whole stats copy/paste thing, haha, i'm too tired.

i'm kind of surprised seeing as how I figured getting into georgetown ea would be harder than getting SEMI-finalist for ESP, but i guess that just shows you how strong all the other applicants are. or how random college admissions is. haha congrats to all the semi-finalists, good luck with the next round :)

Semifinalist

SAT's M 720, V 800 W 800
GPA UW 3.8 W 4.56
class rank 1 of 275
SAT II's Biology M 730, US History 740 Math I 700
I presume all the teacher and essay stuff went well

Congrats all.

ACCEPTED!!! I'm so excited! After having read everyone's stats, I didn't think I had a chance for EMS, but YES!!!

Decision: Semifinalist!

Stats:[ul]
[] SAT: 800 M, 800 CR, 740 W (2340 total)
[] SAT IIs: 750 bio, 780 lit, 780 u.s. history
[] GPA: 4.30
[] Rank: not ranked, but top 10%
[] Other stats: 5's on AP bio, euro, spanish lang, and gov't & politics
[/ul][ b]Subjective:[ul]
[] Essays: not particularly unique, but to-the-point. "why emory" was short and sweet.
[] Teacher Recs: i assume it was good. my euro teacher. i busted my butt in that class.
[] Counselor Rec: know her really well, as guidance counselors go.
[] Hook (if any): lots of "leadership" stuff. idk, exactly. i started a club.
[/ul]Location/Person:[ul]
[] State or Country: New Jersey
[] School Type: hyper-competitive public
[] Ethnicity: caucasian
[] Gender: female
[/ul]Other Factors:**[ list]
[] Extracurriculars: varsity cheerleading (captain), dance club (started the club, took the group on trips to MD, FL, and VA), newspaper and spanish newspaper (editor of both), wind ensemble (i play the alto clarinet, which you may have never heard of), drama club.
[] Why I think I was selected/rejected: hard to say, really. everyone looked super qualified. maybe all the ECs? At most places I would say the cheering set me apart, but since emory doesn't have a football team... who knows?
[] Other thoughts: CONGRATS to all!!! I really don't know what made me the/a white girl from upper-class public-school suburban nj to get it, so i'm still a little in shock. hope to see you all in atlanta for the finalist weekend!

is there a class fact for the ESP? like average SATs....GPAs?

finally_posting: are you applying to other schools?
