Official ESP Results for Class of 2011

help somebody- if you applied for scholars, should you have some notification either way? Even if you applied RD? Wouldn't the acceptance decision have to come first? I'm really confused. Son applied RD and also applied for scholars. Haven't heard anything for either yet. Nothing on OPUS, no emails.

have him check his spam file for e-mail

My daughter did regular decision, Emory Scholars and Goizueta Scholars and was notified by e-mail to check OPUS for Emory Scholars. On OPUS she had an acceptance letter for Emory and notification of semi-finalist status for Emory Scholar. She received e-mail that she did not make Goizueta Scholars.

If your son applied for Emory Scholars RD, he should have received an email this past Tuesday regarding his status.

Those named semifinalists in the scholars program were simultaneously admitted to the University.

finally_posting, which part of rich white suburban nj are you from? I'm somewhere around there as well (passaic county)

Now I'm wondering what's going on.
A couple weeks ago he received a letter saying they were missing a whole bunch of stuff. Meanwhile, he had a copy of his online application and a form saying it was submitted successfully, blah, blah, blah, as well as a followup letter sent last fall saying they had received his stuff.
Anyway, he went on OPUS and sure enough it had a list of stuff supposedly missing.
I called and spoke to a lady and she said she'd look into it and call back later. She never did, so a few days later I called again and spoke to another lady who said that they did have everything and to ignore the letter.
Meanwhile, it still says on OPUS that there's stuff missing and he has not received any email saying if he made scholars, one way or the other. The last email he received from Emory was back at the beginning of December.
I'm beginning to wonder about this- if it's a mixup, I don't mind the mistake (everyong screws up sometime) but I don't appreciate being blown off twice.

I would suggest having your son's college guidance counselor call Emory. Usually they are able to exert more leverage than the applicants.

branjo, the part that's trying to secede from essex county because it feels like too much of its own tax money is going to help newark. that's its opinion; i'm passing no judgement.

and doubleplay, not that this is necessarily any help, but two things: opus is notorious for malfunctioning, and when my school sent the nomination recs and forms and such (it express mailed the four applicants' together), it took a good month and constant communication between my guidance office and emory's admissions office before the forms were processed.

why does it feel like there are so few semifinalists? i know there were 350...

I'm in ur position as well doubleplay

Not many people have posted their results yet, but those who have fared much better than the overall ESP applicant pool.

% of CC posters named semifinalists: 57% (8/14)
% of total applicants named semifinalists: 14% (350/2500)
