Official European History AP Exam Discussion 2010

^You wrote 9 pages on the DBQ? That’s ridiculous. I wrote close to 5, and I thought that was too much.

I actually thought the DBQ was pretty easy. There was a lot of background/outside information you could have put in there. The MC was much easier than I expected, I think I got 70+. I guessed on a few, but I think I got a lot of the questions right.

The FRQ were meh, Part B of the FRQ was easier than Part C. I chose 4 and 7.

My proctor said we get our score in mid-July. I think it varies by which region you live in. I remember last year, students who lived in a different region of the country got their scores a couple days earlier than our school. But you can always just call the College Board in July, if you really want to know what you got.

@Harvard: You wrote 9 pages single-spaced on your DBQ?!

Destroyed the DBQ. :)

Got destroyed by the essays. :(

The MC was moderately hard. Not too bad though.

16 pages total? I don’t even think there was that much room. lol. I wrote a little under 8 with all 3 essays.

Multiple choice towards the end was horrible!

I beasted the DBQ though, it was pretty easy I must say.

I chose 4 and 6. No one else did that in my class, and I was counting on some of you guys to have done it, but oh well lol

/cries

Lets just leave it at that…

6??!??!? hahaha no way!

I chose 3 + 7, I destroyed 3, only wrote 2 pages but (don’t wanna be too cocky) i got at least an 8 or a 9. DBQ was okay, kind of weird because the documents didn’t really all talk directly to the subject matter, so you had to do a lot of interpreting, but lots of POV! (I went POV happy, I had like 5 or 6). I wrote about 5 pages.

The 2nd group of essays were extremely hard. No way was I prepared for #6, #5 I really couldn’t think of concrete examples for, so I unfortunately had to pick 7. In #7 I actually had to guess a little bit, but it turns out most of my guesses were right so i’m hoping for a 6 or 7 (it was not at all well structured, had to kind of make it up as i went along).

Multis seemed at first to be surprisingly hard (I circled 22, but then figured out that 3 of those were easy, and left 3 blank. So that leaves 16 I was unsure about. Of those I think most of my guesses were right (I narrowed almost all of them down to 2). I was just upset at the time because I was expecting the multis to be a little easier. Thinking back though, I don’t think they were all that bad.

So in sum, Multis weren’t bad (maybe 70’s), DBQ wasn’t so bad either (maybe 7-9), essay 1 was great (8 or 9), essay 2 sucked (5-7). I thought in total that the exam was harder than what I’ve seen from last year’s (DBQ last year was way easier).

MC was TOUGH!!! It was my strong point throughout the whole year, consistently getting 60+/80… I havta say I will be happy if I got over 50/80… It was really obscure and I guess I was just really nervous.

When I first saw the DBQ and the documents I was really scared. Some documents didnt help and as someone said it was a lot of interpreting and POV, but I managed to crank a 4 and a half page essay using 11 documents (and talked about the bias of at least three documents, something I always forget to do!)

The first group of FRQ’s was really broad and I didn’t know anything. I chose number 4 and pretty much b.s.-ed the whole thing and managed to write 2 and a half pages (but I’m pretty sure I did bad)

Then I chose 7. And Oh my. I did a whole project just about that this year. And oh man. I am so lucky. Probably an 8 or 9. I destroyed it.

Here are my final thoughts:

Multiple Choice- I delivered a fatal blow but it lived in the end, where as I’ve killed past multiple choice tests

DBQ- He was tough at first, and has some swift moves, but I ended up killing him after a tough battle

First FRQ (4)- Sort of a weird fighter, didn’t know how to attack him

Second FRQ (7)- One swing at his head, and it fell off. Complete defeat.

:-)

Yeah, I thought the last like 20 questions on the mc were hard, but that might have been due to the fact that I screwed up my timing and did them in like 10 minutes or less. aaah. Dude why did everyone choose 7 (rhetorical question)! I did 3 and 7. In 7 I kind of bs’ed a bit and mentioned sex. haha…yeah. Overall, I think I might have done well. I don’t want jinx myself. ugh, at least it’s over.

Did anyone include the kanye quote in their essays?..One of the kids in my class did. ha

MC was the biggest joke of my life; I finished in maybe 20 minutes.
DBQ was very easy. Lots of room for outside information to impress the graders.
My entire class did 4 and 7; they required the least knowledge of Euro…

is it okay that for the DBQ I pretty much just had a sentence at beginning, used some docs, then a sentence at end?

I’m also scared they wont’e be able to read mine :(

@HollaAtMeSon

Yeah, that’s what I did- it’s called impromptu format.

It goes:

~Thesis
~Topic Sentence + Paragraph
~Topic Sentence +Paragraph
~Thesis restatement

That may seem short. My DBQ was 5 pages.

When will we be allowed to discuss the essay topics?
I am not very sure about the F person’s legacy in 7. If will be great if someone can PM me (if it is legal).

Which essay would that be?

I think I did close to 4 pages on DBQ. and close to 2 pages for the rest. My FRQ’s seemed so short compared to my DBQ, but there really wasn’t much to add.

The MC fwas almost a joke; I only needed to omit 3. The essays were ridiculous, though. The DBQ was harder than any other DBQ I’ve written, and all 6 essays were just weird. Luckily, I had ideas for 4 and 5, which were the ones I wrote. If all the essays were as weird as 6, I would have died.

DBQ sorta sucked…couldn’t figure out a way to divide it, plus I didn’t really know what was going on during the Weimar republic

FR were amazing. Owned #3, #7 was the exact same prompt we did in class earlier in the year. Simply a regurgitation…
For #3, what was the question? My friend and I are arguing over it:

or
~~~~~~~~~~ views AND s~~~~/c~~~~~ relationship?</p>
^I actually thought the DBQ was pretty good. I was expecting worse.
Yo Darwin, I’m really happy for you, and I’mma let you finish, but evolution is the most controversial issue of all time. OF ALL TIME!
Yo communism, I’m really happy for you, and I’mma let you finish, but capitalism is the best economic system of all time. OF ALL TIME!
That’s all I could come up with. I hope I make the AP graders laugh and they give me a 9. :D
I was so, so happy with the DBQ. The topic happened to be something of huge interest to me even before I took AP Euro so I was able to bring in a lot of outside info and tie everything together really well…six pages, definitely 9 worthy.
I answered FRQs 4 and 7…4 was mediocre at best and I accidentally used some things outside the time frame, but 7 was great.
I was iffy about the multiple choice section but I still think I did okay and got at least 60 right. I’m feeling great about this test…I need at least a 4 and I’m almost positive I got it.
