[li] Ethnicity: Asian[/li][/ul]Other Factors: Never visited campus and never arranged for an interview... regretting that right now. General Comments: Only got a $9000 trustee scholarship with no financial aid though my EFC should have called for some $12,000s in financial aid alone.

I have the same SAT and close to same rank ( 6 out of 192) in a highly competitive public school. Apparently if they send out merit scholarship offers with your acceptance, then I received no scholarship whatsoever.
I also visited campus, have worked on a research project in Biblical study that I proposed to continue at Brandeis in one of my essays, and have corresponded with a head professor at Brandeis, and still no scholarship.
Honestly, I was shocked.

I know how you feel. My dad got a little annoyed because one of his colleague's daughters with my SAT score got into Brandeis with a 25k a year scholarship. Not to brag, but I was expecting a bigger scholarship and at least some financial aid. Right now, Brandeis' offer is about the same, if not worse than, UChicago's. So unless "trustee scholarship" is codeword for "financial aid grant" (it was listed on the financial aid offer sheet) and the real scholarship letter really didn't come with the acceptance package, Brandeis isn't going to be a viable option for me.

[li] Gender: male[/li][/ul]Other Factors: Incomplete app General Comments: Note: I never sent in the supplement, just the common app. Did not send my SAT scores, did not send mid-year report, did not pay application fees. LOL. So that's probably why I did not get in. If i wasn't going to Emory i'd be kind of upset :-D

Did you send a transcript that would have possibly had sat scores on it? I was waitlisted as well and I know that my GC rec was really late... According to an email they sent in January, they had all of my stuff, but then in March my GC said that they requested it again from him... Go figure?

yeah okay, I'm really not good with this formatting and don't feel like going through the agonizing process of listing everything so I'll just give you the lowdown.

Decision: Accepted
gpa: 94.2 unweighted

SAT IIs: they're so aweful, I don't even want to talk about them

my essays were good, in my opinion (why would I send them if they weren't?)
recs were good too

I guess my saving grace was the fact that I know fluent Turkish and spent my junior year abroad in Turkey. My SATs certainly didn't get me in :)

This is mostly for all the future applicants of Brandeis: don't let numbers keep you from applying to amazing schools. If you feel that the school is a good fit for you, you have nothing to lose in applying. College admissions is a crapshoot and you never know when an admissions office might see something amazing in you.
