Because it is an awesome school with an awesome reputation in all departments. The campus is beautiful, the weather is usually great, and the university has one of the best gym facilities in the nation!

Main reason? The curriculum: I'm studying engineering at VT and I love engineering. However, I also lovelovelove english/history/political science/humanities classes. UVa's engineerin curriculum fits everything in, and so this way I can graduate with an excellent engineering degree, a background in humanities/communications/ect, and have a chance to do a minor outside of a math or science field.
UVa's faculty, campus, location, people, social life, ect are all just added bonuses =)

Accepted by snail mail. They didn't update the online account until May 1 or so. I guess they wanted everyone to receive their hard copies before updating the electronic files. You'll probably find out before the 27th if last year is any indication.

That's kind of wierd. i guess they wanted to do the online site all at once, but wanted people to find out earlier if possible because applicants might have deadlines with other schools (W&M was may 1 last year i know, so it would suck to lose the deposit)

my stats are close to mightynick's only with better ECs and a horrible HS record (not trouble, just really bad grades and lack of classes). I'm really nervous about May 1 and would hate to have to tell all my friends and family I got rejected.

I really hope we find out before May 1. The sooner the better!!!!

Probably not. They started reading that next Monday (March 19) according to Dean J, so I would think that they are somewhat ahead. Last year, people started finding out a week early, so I'm hoping its the same this year. Which means a little over two weeks =)

I would like to chime in on this topic! lol um, i think UVA should copy michigan's/some UC's approach of giving decisions out as they are made for transfer students. It really helps to relieve the stress....I dont know what the whole point is to release them all in one day, its more stressful for the student... Dean J should chime in here too lol.

Eh, it would be smarter, but then people will be flooding their office trying to find out their decision. Although it seemed like people got letters in two waves, but that was probably just the Post Office. But people were definently getting letters BEFORE online decisions were posted. So maybe there was more than one wave, who knows. I'd rather just wait for everyone's to be done, but have the decisions earlier than May 1.

Well it was confirmed: CC transfer can still submit applications up until May 1. So who knows if we'll get decisions as early as last year. The fairest thing they can do is realease all decisions on May 1, and that gives the CC students the maximum time to get their app in and for the University to give them a decision with the others. But, it would also be nice for those who got it in on time to get their decisions a tad earlier. Dean J's blog was flooded with comments, and it seems like people are a little upset with the same viewpoint, but there's nothing Dean J can do. I guess all we can do is what we're good at: wait.

I read on Dean J's webblog that we would get our results by May 1. With that being said, I wonder if it's a good sign they're still accepting CC applications. This tells me there might be a shortage of CC students (like me!) applying. I hope this helps my chances...
