Official Fall 2010 Transfer Thread!

In… I think you just need to submit your updated transcript by June 15th showign that you have completed Calc2… But yeah, I think you’re in… 3.5-3.6+ people say are guarantees

Thanks Thaisteak! My Calulus II grade won’t be available until early July since I will be taking it in Summer I. Do you think this will disqualify me from getting into the College of Natural Science in Fall if I am admitted? I am very anxious since I really want to get into College of Natural Science instead of COLA even thou I put COLA as my 2nd choice.

plnlin2 - I believe you only need Calculus I to get into Natural Science. But yes, you are in for sure. As for when a decision is made, I don’t really know.

UT’s 2-semester calculus is equivalent to Norhlake college’s 3-semester calculus (1,2, & 3). I have to complete Calculus 1 and 2 which is equivalent to UT’s calc 1. I wonder if UT would let me submit my calc 2 after Summer I to let me get into the College of Natural Science if I am offered to COLA.

@plnlin2 - Write them a letter indicating that you will have completed calculus upon arrival. I think that decisions are usually made around late May/early June depending on the competitiveness of the college. Since you have to send in your updated transcript like I do, expect a decision around late July.

This is a great idea. Thank you very much. Good luch to all of us!!

I’m really worried guys… I’m applying for COLA, but I only have a 3.36. :(

Do you think they will go ahead and make a decision since I’ve already completed thirty hours, or will they wait for me to send in an updated transcript (I’m taking classes right now)?

i’m applying for the college of natural sciences, so you think a 3.25 GPA is good enough for that certain college?

I think the consensus seems to be that the ballpark around 3.4 or 3.5 is kind of an unofficial minimum GPA for most candidates to get accepted as a transfer student to any of the colleges at UT Austin. It depends on the strength of the other components in your application, though.

Other than that, you’re looking at the CAP program, which means 1 year at a place like UTSA or UTA and getting at least a 3.2.

CAP is only available to incoming freshman. It is NOT available to transfer students.

Oops thanks.

I am applying too… but I am so nervous.
i messed up really bad my freshman semester (few years ago at a top institution. im still accepted there… its a top 25 and tier 1 university) since then however my gpa is a 3.9 almost

including a 4.0 semester at ACC.

i wanted to apply to mccombs but i wont get in so i applied to cola and school of undergraduate studies …ahhhh soo heartwrenching

Hello there!
i wanted to know if any of you knew how important community service is in the selection process, i applied as a tranfer for 2010 fall with 45 credits and a gpa of 3.7, however i have not been able to volunteer much because i’ve been in the navy for the last 4 years. anybody knows when theyll be sending out acceptance/rejection letters?

I talked to Admissions yesterday. The lady I talked to said mid-April transfer decisions will be made.

great! thanks for the info

So… if I already have thirty hours completed, will they make a decision without my Spring transcript? Or will they wait until I send it in? That is what I am trying to determine here…

They will make the decision without the Spring transcript if you already have completed 30 transferrable hours.

Thanks, flatxca. That’s disappointing, honestly. :(

Don’t give up soneal97. You have a good chance.

I’d appreciate any feedback on my potential admission chances.
-GPA: 3.72 with 100 credits (will graduate a NY community College with dual business Associates degrees). It took some time and a variety of courses to figure out what I wanted to do
-Vice President of Student Government
-Vice President: Phi Theta Kappa (Honors Society)
-Business Columnist for the School Paper
-Half dozen solid letters of recommendation
-In College Honors Program
-Statewide SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence
I got a late start on my application and I’m a little worried that they will frown on that but I will have everything in by the deadline.
