Official FALL 2012 Cornell Transfers

Any other Transfer Option people out there?

@Jeremy, me too :)

And Cornell begins releasing admission decisions next Thursday.

For those of you who have everything in, except your midterm, what does your Cornell portal application checklist say?

Hey guys, so under the FAQs it says that Cornell starts releasing decisions about 4 weeks after the deadline and continues for another 4-6 weeks, but on my application status page it notes that transfer decisions start being mailed around mid-April. Does anyone know which is more accurate?

I’m so anxious! I will be so happy if I end up getting in.

@Divzero I didn’t grow up in Cali but I’m currently going to undergrad here.

Which school Greg?

I looked in the transfer thread for last year and ILR and a few other schools heard around April. Engineering heard around the end of May.

hey could you post the link to last year’s transfer thread? id like to see what they posted, thanks

This is about where we are–around the last week in March.

Hey a quick question. On the common app where you put your college courses, I put down that I will be taking micro and macro econ this summer at the local community college. This is regardless of if I get into to Cornell or not because I’m applying to other schools and want to get those courses out of the way anyway. You think it matters at all that I said I was planning on taking them?

Had my ILR interview on Friday! Looks like ILR is going to be hearing in mid-april.

Youngjeezy, good luck tomorrow youre gunna be fine.

@UkraineTrain, I think it is good for them to see that you are planning on taking them, plus it shows initiative that you are taking time over your summer to continue your education.

Alright I hate to be “that guy”, but I have one more question. I recently landed a summer internship (after I applied to Cornell) and I am interviewing for another one soon. Both are ILR related, one being in HR actually. Is this important enough to let them know? If so, how should I give them this information if I don’t end up getting an interview by phone?

@ukrainetrain
i did the same thing for the summer courses. i added my statistics course i’ll be taking in the summer.
and for your internship, you should let Ian know that you’ll be doing an intern and i’m pretty sure he’ll be very nice and add that to your app.

@Ukraine, I agree it helps to list prereq courses you’re going to take over the summer. It certainly couldn’t hurt, right? I’m not sure of any way to let them know about your internship, other than to call the ILR office and ask the receptionist or Ian, if necessary.

It seems like a lot of people are applying to ILR (myself included). That kind of worries me. I hope this year didn’t see like a record number of ILR applicants.

thanks a lot jimbo! how did it go?!

Good luck ILR-ers! Just checking, CAS doesn’t do interviews right?

@ukrain, you can e-mail any additional information to ilr_admissions@cornell.edu.

youngjeezy, i think it went well man. they’re just looking to get to know you a little. not sure what it is that caused them to call us, especially since this is the first semester that doesn’t have a phone interview as a requirement.

just out of curiosity, did anyone in this thread get suspended in high school?

Time for me to jump in:

School: State University in California
College Gpa: 3.933 (40 units, 12 in progress)
High school gpa: 3.1
Ec’s: Work at Safeway (20 hours per week), 4 Time all league runner in hs, Play guitar and bass in a band :wink:
Recs: I know one was REALLY good and the other should be good too.
applying to: CAS philosophy

@Jimbo719 yep i was suspended in high school. one of my teachers had a dumb rule that we couldn’t drink water in class and everybody hated it so i refused to give him my water one day and i refused to agree with the vice-principal about his rule so I was suspended for 3 days! (ouch) but I subsequently got 1000 signatures from students to try to change the rule!

@Jacob1092 - with good essays and recs I think you have a good shot, good luck!

Does anyone know when we’re going to start hearing back? The website says mid-april but people heard back first week of April last year.

@jacob, first off—pretty good suspension story. second, did you disclose it on your commonapp where you were asked if you were ever suspended?

something12345, I think it’s going to vary…probably starting in a week or so and extending through the month of april.

younjeezy, how’d your interview go?
