Official FALL 2012 Cornell Transfers

@something Nope! No interviews for CAS

There don’t seem to be too many CAS applicants on this thread–lot of ILRies though!

hope that means that there’s less competition than usual for CAS ;)

There’s hardly anyone on CC for CAS! It’s weird. I hope we hear back soon!!

Oh that would be so nice :slight_smile: I am very anxious to hear back!

There are hardly any CALS applicants on this thread! Seriously this is unheard of. Last year they and ILR made up the whole thread.

wow. i just got off the phone with ILR.
mine was definitely an interview…i mean also the woman i talked to was super intimidating and just shooting questions at me. it really didn’t feel informal.
ughhh. i don’t know. she kept asking a lot of specific questions about ILR and not much on who i am as a person and my interests.

waaaaaaaaaah.
not one of my best interviews…

@something: I am for CAS

haeji93, don’t be so hard on yourself, i’m sure it wasn’t so bad. what did she ask you about? like specifically about the curriculum?

@haeji93 I’m sure you did great! Normally it is the people who think they did absolutely terrible in their interview end up with an acceptance. The more you want something the harder you are on yourself. Now all you can do is relax and wait… Which is probably the hardest part haha.

My stats just for reference:
Transfering from the University of South Carolina. Applying to ILR
HS:
Unweighted GPA: 3.3-3.4
Weighted: 3.7-3.8
EC’s: Mostly sports related plus some ILR related stuff (Model UN awards and things of that nature)
SAT M690 V690 W640
retook them a few weeks ago, thought I aced it but who knows. My guess around a 2200.
College:
GPA: 3.9. About the same for the MT report
EC’s Club wrestling, analyst in Student-run investment fund, Reformed university Fellowship, Capstone scholars program, Dean’s list etc.)

Rec’s (one good, one alright)

This summer: two internships. one with a venture capital firm in Ghana and one with an engineering firm in HR (haven’t added these to my app yet though)
Started undergrad research on Ghana stock exhange and agribusiness

Hooks:

 1. Played sports every season year round without any breaks. 10 varsity letters in 4 sports. Scholar athlete awards and competition awards+ captain in two sports. Not heavily recruited because I am undersized but was recruited by a few D3 schools in wrestling and football.
 2. Currently in the #1 international business program in the nation. Apparently pretty tough to get into. Only a class of about 100 or so kids.

@haeji93 Like everyone has been saying, I’m sure it went fine! Don’t worry :)

The waiting is killing me! I just got back from spring break and these next few weeks are going to go so slooooowly.

@UkraineTrain…Your stats are good! And I’m from Ghana!! But now studying at a U.S university. I’m hoping to transfer into HumeC. Please,feel free to message me any questions you may have about Africa’s beacon of democracy!

I’m starting to get really discouraged that I have not gotten a call from ILR…

@UkraineTrain I read it as University of Southern California and didn’t realize I was wrong till I saw “#1 international business program”.

@fly1989, don’t get discouraged over it…i really don’t think it is a good or bad thing, and there’s still time for them to call you. i’m not sure what the motivation for calling is, but i don’t think they’re reasoning is “we’ll only call who we’re thinking of accepting”

@ukrainetrain, you’re stats are beyond solid. if you wrote good essays, i would think you should feel relatively confident. this wait is really killing me, i’m thinking about it every day.

my first semester was a 4.0 but my MT report is only going to reflect about a 3.7, do you guys think that is going to hurt me?

Jimbo…i think it went pretty well actually…i spoke with ian and we just talked about my current school and my interests and stuff like that…only lasted about 15 minutes he is really cool…and for ur gpa, i think ur solid…ive seen ILR accept ppl with relatively low GPAs and reject higher GPAs, and urs is high…of course, theyll consider ur hs grades more, but from my knowledge, the essays are are wut make or break you for ILR
ya i wouldnt sweat it haej…they just take notes and send it over to the admissions committee or at least thats how i perceive it.

@jimbo719 - I wouldn’t worry about it! 4.0 and 3.7 are both really good, I don’t think it’ll hurt you.

Does anyone know how often an applicant for one school is considered for another instead? I applied to CAS, but I recently realized that my essay/application looks more like one for an ILR applicant haha! I was just wondering if you guys have heard of this happening

@Jimbo Thank you!..that feels reassuring :)

@Something Thank you!.. and yes I did

A sincere good luck to everyone!

i really hope they give reasonable consideration for a 2nd college, if they dont accept you for your first choice. i just wanna get in. I applied CAS/gov. but ill go CS engineering if it gets me in…
