Official FALL 2012 Cornell Transfers

@colene and @something12345- thanks for the feedback!

how hard is it to transfer to Cornell from a CC in CA?

@ BeachHouse…I know you’ll be glad if someone told you its super-easy and not hard at all.But the truth is,that wouldn’t guarantee any acceptance or denial. Your best bet now, just like any of us,is to put your maximum best into the application and leave the rest to God(thats if you believe in Him:no offense intended) … You wouldn’t want to add such worries to your academic load for this semester…

im also applying to UPenn, chicago, and Northwestern. Although cornell is 1st choice right now

Where are you now chris?

Cornell is definitely my number 1. I’m also applying to UVA, and UNC-CH

Cornell is my absolute dream school at this point. I’ve read so much about the institution, ithaca, the beautiful nature surrounding campus… I truly believe that this is the school I belong too. Lets hope they feel the same way!

Thought this might be a good list to start compiling, everyone copy and paste this and add your name to whatever school you’re applying to. I’ll start.

CAS:
something12345 (Econ/Govt)

@something, right now I’m a freshman at the University of Florida. what about you guys?

@something, i’m also applying to CAS for econ. But now I’m thinking i want to internally transfer into AEM

Then apply directly to aem.

Applying directly to AEM does seem to make more sense. I’m a freshman at UChicago

I don’t understand why there’s so little post for the Fall '12 transfer. There was so much posts and support for the Spring’12. But anyways, I got rejected for the Spring and I’m applying once again for the Fall. I honestly didn’t do my research that time and I learned from my mistakes.
I’m from a CC and I’m applying to ILR. I created a seperate page for the ILR transfer last spring so if any of you guys are applying to ILR and want a specific page, then please ask or create one so we can relate to one another.
I sent in 1 recommendation last semester, should I send in 2? I only have one new letter, but do you guys think I should send the same letter from last semester because I have a couple of copies.

I honestly know very little about LORs, I think I’m going to only send in one because I’m not sure how good my second one is going to be. Good luck qawsed, you clearly really want to get in!!

Also, I submitted everything (commonapp, supplement and payment) last night, when do you think I’ll get my ID number?

@something12345 I got my ID number the day after I sent in my app last time. So you’ll probably get the email within tomorrow. And thanks for the advice.

Can the rest of you guys give me some advice about LOR too? How many you’ve sent.

Like something, I only sent 1 LOR in, but I’m a freshman, and I definitely didn’t have any other options that would be better than generic. If you think your second letter will reflect well on you/the professor really liked you then go ahead and send it in! It can’t hurt!

Best of luck! Hope your persistence pays off :)

Applied to AEM, Accounting focus

Also applied to:

Brown University

I also studied abroad this year in Southern Mexico. This was heavily incorporated into my application essays, because I want to become a Portfolio Manager, and specialize in Socially Conscious Investing. My time in Mexico was spent studying the effects of NAFTA and the globalization of capitalism, especially on the indigenous population.

My accounting professor and sociology professor (who is also a professor at Cornell) wrote my letters. Both were outstanding.

Does it look like I have a shot?

Thanks!

@something, i received my i.d about a week after i submitted everything so i wouldn’t worry. But here’s something else on my mind. Are you guys going greek? Right now, at the University of Florida, if you like going out/partying, you have to be greek, the system is THAT exclusive. Percentage wise, Cornell is even more greek. So are you guys going greek at all? trying for fall rush? or waiting till spring? during my freshman year i was completely against going greek, mostly because i wanted to keep my grades up for transferring, but now I’m more open to it. what are your thoughts?

@anothershot11, thanks. I really do hope the persistence pays off.
@chris1992 honestly, all i’m worried about the current moment is whether i’ll be accpeted or not. Greek life, clubs, etc comes after the acceptance because I honestly dont want to get my hopes up again then get hurt. But if the greek life doesnt interrupt my studies, i wouldnt mind joining one.

@AnotherShot11, yeah thats a good point. i keep getting ahead of myself. i finally sent in all my paperwork, so at this point i have no control over my application anymore. we’ll see what happens, good luck to you guys
