@hyunnysoo Looks like no one from CAS (on here, anyways) has heard back yet. They seem to be the last college to send out decisions… TORTURE!

This is seriously more stressful and more nerve-racking than the first time I did college application. I am so glad that I’m never going to have to go through this process again. Maybe changing the subject will help us take our minds off of the stress a little bit. Did you guys apply to any other schools? If so which ones? And have you been accepted anywhere? So far I’ve gotten into University of Miami, Penn State, Northeastern, and University of North Florida. Now I’m just waiting on Boston College and Cornell HumEc :)

Hey miami4rmjax, good idea :)

In addition to the ILR school, I applied to UC San Diego, UC Santa Barbara, UC Davis, and UC Irvine. I have been admitted to SD and SB, and haven’t heard from the others yet. SB is my second choice to Cornell. At SB I didn’t get in as my chosen major of Economics though, so I would be studying Math.

Those of us applying to grad school eventually may go through something like this again!

@ILR That’s awesome that you got into your second choice. That must ease the stress a little bit. Although cornell is the zenith, those are all wonderful schools as well. No matter where we end up, I’m sure we will all do great. :)

haha, damn i didnt even think of grad school applications lol, thanks ILRgirl

for me, it’s ILR or nothing. If i’m rejected I’ll bang out another semester at my school and probably reapply next time around. If i’m accepted…you’re all invited to fly to NY for the party lol

and yo, gregfields, stop this pessimistic talk. its not over til there’s a letter in our hands.

@miami, same for you! I was imagining Cornell could be the only only place for me, but I can still make it, even if it’s UCSB and it’s not the exact major I intended. If accepted to Cornell, I’ll go and if not, then I’ll still be thankful I got into another good school.

@easd Thank you! And yes I know what you mean. That’s a good outlook to have. For the longest time I felt like I would just die of heartbreak if I didn’t get into Cornell, but now I’m realizing that there is more to life than that. We will be successful with or without Cornell and we have to remember that. (at least I have to remember that to keep from going crazy!) lol :)

@jimbo you’re lucky that you have the opportunity to apply again! I’m applying as a junior so I’m pretty sure this is my first and last shot. lol. Can one apply as a second semester junior? If so then I will most certainly do that if I am rejected this time.

I would think you could apply at any time, but a maximum of 60 credits will transfer. So, if it is your absolute dream to go to Cornell, I would assume you could apply second semester junior year, though it may not be economically smart since you’re paying for some credits that won’t transfer you know? That’s just my guess though, obviously an admissions officer is the person to ask.

I’m applying to Cornell, UPenn, UChicago, and Northwestern. Except if Cornell doesn’t work out, the chances of the others working out are slim to none. If you guys get in, are you transferring for sure? or does it depend on fin aid?

if i’m accepted, i’m going for it. and don’t get it twisted lol, i DO need fin aid…but if i have the opportunity to turn a dream into a reality–i’m not letting it pass me by.

@Chris1992

I am also applying to Penn and Northwestern. Additionally I’m applying to: Georgetown, UVA, Vanderbilt, NYU, Emory, Tulane, Illinois Tech, Duke, UMass Amherst, U Minnesota, Ohio State, Indiana U, U Oregon, maybe U Houston

I went a little crazy with the safeties. Let’s just say I really want to escape from where I’m currently at, no matter what. Also, I had some weird circumstances that basically resulted in me taking off my entire senior year of high school, so I’m not sure what schools will think of that (still graduated 2nd in my class with a 3.91)

@jimbo Agreed. I got in last year as a freshman, and couldn’t go due to lack of F.A., but things have since changed. And if I get in, there is no doubt that I will be there in the Fall. I’ve worked towards Cornell for far too long, and I haven’t been able to get it off my mind all year.
I also applied to UNC and UVA, but neither of appeal to me as much as Cornell does :)

woops, responded as EASD, that is my other account lol

Wow Gregfields, you applied to a load of schools!

Luckily, if you’re broke… Cornell will pay your way. They take good care of their students.

@Chris if I get in then I am definitely going. No questions asked. Since I’ll be there for two years instead of four the cost won’t be AS bad.

yeah they do have good aid. My dad used the fin aid calculator on the cornell website and it said expected family contribution: $60,066… and i have 3 brothers (2 in college). so it sucks that i probly wont get anything, but if i get in, i will go no matter what.

I’m definitely going if I get in as well, unless some sort of miracle happens and I get into Penn. If I end up getting into both, I’ll probably have a difficult choice to make (I’m leaning towards Penn though)

So simply, you aren’t definitely going. Seems like a pretty good summary.
