@box90210 I totally agree! It’s a refreshing change to see anonymous people on the internet actually being nice to each other! By the way, I just faxed in the extra information that was requested of me so hopefully I should have my decision soon! They wouldn’t make me waste my time sending in more materials just to reject me right?! lol

I actually live near Ithaca, and met Ian at my school’s transfer day. I went to an ILR Information Session and got to talk to him quite a bit. I’m assuming that served as my interview…? However, Ian told me that interviews are no longer standard. Congrats to everyone! I’ll see you in the Fall!

@miami4rmjax, i agree! I have never seen a college confidential thread with such nice people. i live on the west coast so if he were to call around 10ish it would be now. i have my phone here right next to me.

Hey sorry to be asking a question with such a seemingly obvious answer, but: Who the hell is Ian? lol am i supposed to be on a first name basis with Cornell admissions??

@Maconn CALS was supposed to send decisions by e-mail? When I log in with my app id it says that I should hear by snail mail. I kind of hope they give out decisions via letter, so my waiting near the mailbox every day hasn’t been a waste!

Congrats all you guys!

for those who got a call this morning, were any of you not from NY?

@chris1992 Ian’s the Associate Director of Undergraduate Admissions.
He is also an alumni of ILR. He’s the man to go to if you have any questions pertaining to your ILR application. He’s really nice and gives you the information you need. In addition, like all Cornell admissions, he replies to your emails very quickly.

Congrads to all who received the called!

Did he mention when you guys might receive the mail? And are they all phone calls or only a select few?

Hey everyone. I’ve been reading this threat religiously every day for about a month so I thought I’d post. I’m a freshman at a LAC applying to ILR. First of all, congrats to everyone who has heard back! I bet you guys feel on top of the world right now. I won’t go into details but I have an almost perfect GPA+ midterm grades, strong and relevant ECs, all requirements will be completed, and specific and detailed essays (I even mentioned a book I read by an ILR professor) and very good recommendations. I haven’t gotten a call from Ian and can’t log into housing but I’ve been staring at my phone all day hahaha

Congrats to all of the recent acceptances!
bet you are all over the moon. Are you guys definitely attending Cornell in the fall?

@box90210 - completely agree! everyone here is so nice and awesome
plus everyone seems to genuinly want to go to Cornell and not just because of name recognition. I think that passion is becoming obvious to admissions which is why we are having so many acceptances. Keep them coming!

@maconn - yea I’m a little confused as to why CALS is sending out acceptances through mail all of a sudden. As far as I know, they’ve only given out acceptances in the past through email or phone calls. Mostly email though. I had been checking my mailbox everyday hoping NOT to have a letter from Cornell as I thought CALS only sent out rejections through mail.

Good luck to those of you still waiting!

Oh and I forgot to add that I talked to the lady yesterday and she said that decisions would be going out by mail in the second half of april, probably the last week *for ILR

@vitakka, when I first called thy said all decisions would be sent via email. Now they are saying either email or snailmail. So I’m not sure. I’ve seen people on this thread get accepted to cals both by email and by snailmail. So I’m checking my email and my mailbox!

@clinteastwood I called the lady today and she told me the exact same thing. I wonder why some people are getting called and some aren’t. I’m in your situation havn’t gotten a call and cant log into housing.

@ukraine train~ same here

@19910217 @UkraineTrain I think it’s way too early to start to draw any conclusions. there are so many variables we don’t know about. It must take a long time to make so many decisions and notify so many people, especially since it’s just Ian calling people. I’m optimistic that we will hear back tomorrow or later this week. Stay positive everyone!

by the way, is anyone who got accepted to ILR going to be entering as a sophomore? Or all juniors and GTs so far?

Congratulations to EVERYONE WHO GOT ACCEPTED, ESPECIALLY THOSE TO ILR THIS MORNING.

ILR acceptee’s could you please post your stats?

Thanks

Well we know that housing doesn’t really mean anything for sure, now multiple people who are unable to log in have been accepted.

I haven’t heard anything from admissions yet. My stats are probably below Cornell’s level, though I thought ILR cared a lot more about fit than stats:

HS GPA: 3.91/4.00, rank 2 in class
ACT: 31 composite
College GPA: 3.81/4.00

@GregFields

Your stats look great. Besides, Ian himself told me they spend about 3 minutes looking at grades, etc. and go to right to the essays and base their decision off that. And everyone here has the grades

hmmmm. thats interesting. Grades would help my application while SAT could kill it. Very skeptical whether my essays were convincing enough…

Lily, congratulations! I was secretly rooting for you
I hope your fin aid works out well

To everyone else, would you excuse yourself from class to answer a call from admissions?
