@Anothershot11 Besides Cornell, I also applied for UVA and UNC-CH.

@everyone, if we get in, and actually do end up going (knock on a lot of wood), we should celebrate together after moving in!

@Jeremy nice! The same as me Best of luck to you!

what are your guys’s midterm grades looking like? anyone have a guess how much they weigh into the decision?

I think mine are looking pretty solid, but that’s a good question. Anyone know how much they matter?

Can somebody help me with the following question?

On Cornell’s website, it says the deadline for transfers to submit College Scholarship Service is March 1st while the college board says it’s Feb 15th.

So which one is correct?

I would assume the Cornell website is more up to date than the Collegeboard one, but I don’t actually know anything about scholarships so I’m not sure.

Taking a shot at this… What are my chances?

Do I have any shot at ILR? I don’t think I’m competitive (GPA-wise) for AEM.

Quick question - I want to apply to either CAS and ILR for next year.
I don’t know which one to apply to.
I called the admissions and they said that ILR would like for you to have Micro/Macro etc. I probably won’t have any of those. But I heard ILR takes more transfer than CAS? Does anyone have the stats for that?

@MYW31 Your high school stats are a little low but because you’re applying as a junior they won’t matter as much. Your freshmen year grades are low too, so that will hurt. You have a good trend and sounds like good ECs, so hopefully that will make up for them. I think its a reach for you, but good luck!!

@Matisyahu If you won’t have the classes for ILR, I definitely wouldn’t apply there. The rate is higher, but if you’re not a good fit that won’t matter.

@MYW31, im not really sure, i don’t know enough about ILR.
@matisyahu, it seems like I’m in the same situation. I’m interested in AEM but my course work so far is the best match for arts and sciences. I know that arts and sciences is the hardest college to get into, but i applied there because i thought i had a better shot based on my coursework. ill find out in april/may whether it was the right decision.

“your application may be reviewed by a college/school at Cornell in addition to the one to which you are applying”
This is for transfer students…What does this mean?

that means that even though you’re applying to 1 school, they’ll consider you for admission to another college, if they believe you’re a better fit for that one than the one you applied to

Kind of curious whether you guys think my application is competitive.
applying to arts and sciences
-freshman at university of florida
-graduated IB with a 3.8, SAT 2030

In college:
-honors program
-executive board member (director of law school admissions) of my pre law fraternity
-involved in mock trial
-german club
-GPA: 4.0
-will have 32 credits completed in college
-taking econ, and government classes, and 3 languages
-very strong letters of rec from my econ professor, and International relations professor
-additional letter of rec from James Maas (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Maas) ;probably wont help too much, but might show that I’m very interested

Dose that mean even if we get rejected from one school, they might give us acceptance into another one?

yes; my friend applied to Arts and Sciences and they said they could only admit him for PAM

James Maas will get you in.
Will you HAVE 32 credits when you enter? Or do you have 32 credits as of now? As in, you will have like 49 or something by the time you enter?

i took 15 credits last semester, and 17 this semester. i also entered college with 39, but i wont even get credit for half of those 39 because cornell has much higher standards for transfer credit than my college now.

I got like 50 credits by the end of this semester. 4.0 GPA.
If I don’t get in this fall, I’ll try for spring, unless I get into other schools.

Seems that a lot with 4.0 GPA are applying Cornell. Good luck to everyone!
