Official FALL 2012 Cornell Transfers

Why so many ILR applicants on this thread?

Those accepted to ILR for the fall of 2012.
Can you please post your stats?
Thanks.

ILR has like a 40% acceptance rate according to Cornell. I’m jealous.

@haeji
did you take an itnerview with Ian?
When was it and what did he ask you about?
I just did my phone interview with ian today and he asked me
what my “interests” are… i was super nervous and don’t even know
what i said.

Ok I joined this thread fairly recently, and I am still waiting on my admissions decision. Here are my stats:

College/ Major Applying to: CALS, AEM
Entering as: Sophmore
GPA: HS- Fairly known magnet school in New York, no GPA but approximately 89/100; College- 4.0/4.0, University ranked about in the 130’s, but Honors program.
2320 SAT (800 Math, 780 Reading, 740 Writing)
SAT Math II 800, Physics 700

Units completed (Will have completed by the end of THIS semester): 33, I have not fully completed my English requirement but have notified CALS admissions and they said its fine.
ECs listed on app: Piano, various clubs in high school, Math team, volleyball, bowling, bunch of other stuff including various community service, Computer programming, Economic and Finance society in college, and just a bunch of other things I’m too lazy to check.
Job/Work Experience: Worked as an intern for a hedge fund this school year, did DVD subtitles and translation from English to Russian and vice versa for 2 years before that.
Letters of Recommendation: Stellar recs from my law professor who said he’s the best student he has had in his 40 years of teaching, and hedge fund manager.

Other:
Other schools applied to: Applied Binghamton, Boston, NYU, accepted into first 2 already.

I think I wrote a pretty good common app essay, talked about how I actually want to go to college to learn now and not just to get a diploma, learned to work my ass off instead of not give a **** like in high school.

In supplement I made references to specific professors and classes I sat in during my visits in Cornell and why I liked them (basically detailed stuff about Cornell), I hope that shows I actually want to go to Cornell and not just “an Ivy league school” for the sake of prestige whoring

Got an email from Ian, today, telling me to give him a call when I can, so he could update me on 'the status of [my] application" Of course, I was in class, and did not see his email. I missed him by exactly 8 minutes.

Why couldn’t he just have said the decision in the email? So incredibly nervous. I already had an interview few weeks ago, but maybe they have other questions, in regards to my application? I am doubtful that it could be an acceptance offer… haha.

@Matisyahu

I’m a freshman at a SUNY

4.0 with 13 credits first semester

3.7ish with 16 credits mid term report

great EC’s in High school, but not phenomenal grades…didn’t send my SAT.
I think my essays and reccomendations were great.

@secretlyyhopeful…he def wouldn’t call you to reject you. so probably, either you’re in, or he has a question

so… im new here and i applied to CALS. Congrats to everyone that got in! at first i though i didnt care about the result but now im so nervous. i can log in to the housing and my primary major listed on the login page changed to the secondary one-.-" did that happen to anyone else?

@wronskian

That’s because the GT’s are put in that statistic as well. Nobody knows what the real ILR acceptance rate is.

@secretlyyhopeful

for some reason I feel like we’re on the same boat. I’m honestly doubtful he called to tell me that i was accepted.
But obviously, if it’s not that he wants to ask questions I’m guessing. And I’m actually more nervous about that b/c my interview didn’t go too well (i’m not good w phone interviews!!) but it was also with a different woman…not ian. anyhow, I left him a voicemail… are you calling him first thing tomorrow morning?

@socal

i did have a phone interview but it was with some woman…who didn’t sound too interested lol it was just me talking the entire time. yeah i don’t even remember what i talked about. haha. and it was late March I think? she just asked me ILR specific questions…
I’m sure you did fine! do you know why you got the phone interview so late though? sine apps were due 3/1…:T

@haeji93 with Kathy? yes, my interview was with her, too. I made her laugh, which was great :slight_smile:

But, yes I am calling him tomorrow morning. He emailed me at 3:47pm, so, I could not call him back today.

@vennaenna which major did you apply to in CALS?

@haeji and @Secrelyhopeful.
Could you guys post your stats?

@haeji
I know i freaked out cuz my interview was way late haha… nervous
during the interview i talked most of the time and he said he’s
releasing the decisions in next two weeks…
hope you get in!! it’s a good sign that ian gave you a phonecall haha
good luck

i applied to biological sciences
secondary: plant science

CONGRATS ALL!! if i get in, we are definitely having a party ahh yeaah! haha

oh~yeah~we should found a facebook group for this forum :-)))

@vennaenna
My first major is Plant Science and I am able to log in to housing portal. So does Maconn. It seems the decision has been made for the applicant applying Plant Science… Nervous!
