Hi everyone! I’m applying as a junior transfer from a California cc to ILR.

GPA 3.9
58 units completed, plus 13 this semester
Completed all recommended prereqs except Managerial Accounting, which I am taking this summer.

Not much for extracurriculars other than personal business experience that’s part time.

I visited Cornell last Fall… It’s the only school I’m serious about attending and it’s the only private school to which I applied.

Best to all! :)

Hi everyone, how are you?

I didn’t post much before. But I’m applying to CALS AEM. I’m interested in their Environmental specialization.

GPA: 3.67
Submitting no standardized tests.

To ILR girl. I’ve been to two info sessions there. The whole HR feel to it didn’t bode well with me but I understand it can be very flexible to tailor to whatever you want to do…I wish you well with that.

Comments: I really am excited about hearing back. I want to go to Cornell because their Medical school is so close and I would be able to get a much more clinical basis for research (as I am going the pre-med route).

@centwave - I’d say your chances are pretty good, good grades from HS and college and very good looking ECs. One comment - you know that the medical school is in NYC right? It’s a 5 1/2 hour drive to get there.

My apologies - I didn’t mean to say that the medical school was close, I actually meant that they have a strong neuroscience program and also are good with incorporating the clinical aspect to it, instead of having a lot of research that isn’t applied anywhere. Sorry about that haha, I was thinking about UPenn (as I’m also applying there)

No worries haha, just wanted to make sure that you knew that and weren’t gonna be disappointed later. Just out of curiosity, where do you go to school now?

Oh how long I’ve been waiting for this! officially no longer able to affect my chances of getting in. Sending in my midterm report tomorrow, everything else already sent!

Feel you Chris! I’m sending my midterm report Friday. Nothing except for my app has showed up on my application status yet though haha, making me a little nervous!

hah i wouldn’t worry. I’ve got my application and LORs as received. I’ve been trying to contact my high school counselor for days, to see whether he’s sent my transcripts. since he retired right after i graduated its being more difficult than it should be!

@Unibames, I wish you well too!

Wow, some of you submitted your common app early. I’m still finishing mine, but my profs sent my LORs and I’m getting the school report done today. I’m still waiting a few weeks to submit the midterm report. In ILR at least, you can submit it after the 1st.

Does anyone know if Cornell will reject mid-term reports if they feel it’s too early? I’ve only completed 4 or 5 weeks out of approximately 15 this semester, and had my mid-term report signed by professors this week.

idk why they would. the way my classes worked out this semester, i had midterms for every class mid-february, so last week, therefore i got my midterm report signed this week. i don’t have any other exams till end of march, therefore it doesn’t make sense for me to wait. I feel like cornell should be experienced enough to realize that.

@MLembo - shouldn’t be an issue. Almost everyone in semester schools is probably in the same position as you and Cornell will know that. Having said that, if you have midterms this week or next week, it’s probably better to wait and send it in a little late.

Also, did you guys make copies of the midterm report or get your teachers to sign multiple copies? I only got one original and am going to make copies and send them tomorrow morning.

nah i just had them all sign the same one, and then made copies and sent it out so i could keep the original

Okay cool, thanks

I’m applying as a sophomore transfer to ILR

College GPA: 3.81 (I ended up only taking 13 units because I switched majors)
HS GPA: Around 3.90
SAT: 750 CR 680 M 580 W
ACT: Took in this month, scores pending

EC’s: President of charity club in HS and founded same club at university, wind ensemble section leader and outstanding soloist award in HS, other small things like short internship for politician in HS

I think one of my letters of rec will be great and the other one I am not entirely sure about, as it’s an unpredictable professor (I had no choice since I only had professors from my first semester in college)

Any thoughts on my chances?

@GregFields - Seems like you have a solid chance, math is a little low and writing is very low but I don’t think they even look at writing. Your CR is excellent so that should make up for math and you have good GPAs in HS and college. I would say it probably depends on your essays and some luck. Also, you only have to send in one letter to Cornell, so maybe only send the one you know is going to be good?

I sent two letters to Cornell. Will they still look at both of them or will they only consider the first one to make it into my file? One of mine is much better than the other.
