awesome guys!

If anyone is becoming worried since they have received a decision yet (as am I) just remember that admissions mentioned that they’d BEGIN releasing decisions on a rolling basis in MID-April. Although some people have received their decision, it’s only 3 days past midway through the month. People in last year’s thread got ACCEPTED several days into May, and didn’t receive the ability to log into housing around that time. It’s still far from over!

Part of this is to ease my mind as well. :)

I was able to log in to housing, so I got really excited… but then I just called the admissions department and they said that since I haven’t received an official decision, this doesnt’ really mean anything and that it could just be a glitch. Is that true… or am I accepted and they just don’t want me to know in advance? lol

@Vitakka, if you think sending extra materials would help I say go ahead! I don’t think it’ll hurt you, especially if they tell you to go ahead and do. The way I see it is you can’t lose and it might even mean the little extra they need to say yes!
I really hope we are part of the people who get accepted!

By the way, why in the world would the kid in your class turn down Cornell for Anthro?! Did he get into even better schools?

@miami4rmjax, if we all get in we should definitely meet up! it would be really cool to meet people either before or as soon as we get to Cornell :)

@james11223, what school are you applying to? We can’t say for absolute sure but so far being able to login into housing means that you will be receiving a letter soon!
so congrats. So far, no one who has been able to login into housing has gotten rejected.

@Dreaming42012 I applied to CAS, and I just wanted to know because I have another friend who applied and he can’t log in to housing yet. It says “Your session timed out” or something like that… can he still get accepted?

@lilydrenn I sent a request for the group

Hey guys so I applied to CHE for human development and I’ve yet to hear back. I’m beginning to think that my chances of getting in aren’t good at all now and when I go to log in for housing it says “your session has run out.” Would I still have a chance of getting in anyways? Here are my credentials:

HS GPA: 97.6/100 (weighted)
6 AP classes and 6 Honors classes
SAT: 1820 (sucks I know but I read that CHE doesn’t look at that)

College: currently a freshman at Rowan University
1st semester gpa: 3.75, mid-term gpa: 3.9
EC: in high school I was in the national honors society, Spanish club, renaissance, interact, volunteered at my local hospital two times a week for 3 hours each time I was there. I did numerous community service activities. I ran XC(cross country) and track and was on varsity.
In college, Im currently running XC and track and I was an Academic All-American in cross country and I plan to run for Cornell if I’m accepted(which doesn’t look too good at this point) but I did talk to the coach and he helped me out with the admissions process. I’ve done community service activities at my current institution as well.

My essay for the college was about an experience I went through that has made me who I am today and is the reason why I want to major in human development. I talked about how I overcame the problem. I’d rather not mention what it was as its very personal but after mentioning all of that I concluded by explaining how CHE would help me better understand human development so I can go into my profession with a lot of knowledge about human development.

Any feedback would be great! Thanks!!!

@Ruxc23 I am in the EXACT same position as you. I applied for human development and can’t log into housing. It’s not over for us though. They are still reviewing applications. When did you have all of your materials in? I sent some extra stuff into the office last week and yesterday. I was told that I would have my decision by May 1st so there is still time! You have a great GPA and being a runner is a plus. I think you have a good shot. I work with children and I eventually want to be some type of social worker or counselor for abused children. I wrote about how my experience with the earth quake in haiti made me want to commit myself to abused and orphaned children because I saw them on a daily basis and volunteered taking care of them. I said that human development would give me a better understanding of how childhood trauma could impact future development and that foundation would make me a better counselor, etc. etc. We’ll see what happens.

@miami4rmjax- I had all my materials in by the deadline but my mid-term report and letters of recommendation were sent in around the second and third week of march. I’m like really nervous though! I’m hoping we both get in!! It seems like you really love children and what you want to do so I’m hoping you get accepted.

at another school I applied to, I need to let them know by may 1st if I’m going there or not and it seems like they are being very stingy about extending that deadline. I’m applying to engineering so I won’t get my decision from cornell before may 1st so do you guys think it is “impolite” to say I’m waiting for decisions from other schools still or should I make up some other reason?

@Ruxc23 I sent my mid term report in at the very end of march, but I hear some people had there’s in by like february. That may be why ours are taking longer. I’m sure we’ll be fine
And thank you! I really hope we all get in! Nice to see another Human Development hopeful like me! It’s a small program so if we both get in we will probably be working together at some point. Here’s hoping! Good luck!

@gguy I called human ecology and told them that my back up school needs my decision by may first so they told me that they would give me my decision before then. Maybe you could try that with the engineering department?

@miami4rmjax I emailed the transfer coordinator in the engineering dept who I met in november on my visit and she said its very rare engineers hear back by then but she put in a request to the admissions committee and she said hopefully that will hasten the process a little. so maybe that’ll work, but I don’t know if it is a good thing to tell the other school that I am still waiting for a decision from other schools too. I’m waiting for johns Hopkins as well and I don’t think either will have a decision for me until at least mid may

What happened to all the ILR people??

I’m an ilr person and also turned in mid sem report at the very end of march, which is possibly a reason why I wasn’t one of the first to hear. Who knows? I’m assuming they’re not doing any more calls at this point.

Has anyone else from ILR heard back? If not, have you contacted the admissions office?

@lily did you turn in app or mid sem report early? Just curious :)

i sent my midterm report a week ago haha. Yea I’m getting pretty discouraged over here with no call from ILR yet, but I won’t give up hope till that rejection letter is in my hands.

I turned in my app on 2/28, and my midterm report the first week of March. There was some confusion though about my application, and I had to submit more materials- they didn’t have a complete application until, maybe, the last week in March?

Maybe they review completed apps alphabetically?
