Official Fall 2012 University of Michigan transfer thread

UMich Class of 2015!!! LSA btw =]!!!

I am wondering if there is a chance to postpone the deposit of Umich. May 1st is ahead of the notification dates of most of my schools. I wanna know the decisions of some other schools as well before making up my mind.

Anyone has the same concerning? how you guys gonna do?

@wxydx00-I highly doubt there is anyway to get around the requirement. I assume you have already been accepted, if you have there are very few reasons mentioned on the enrollment deposit website that would allow you to get an extension to the deadline.

The website is located here:
[Enrollment Deposit | University of Michigan Office of Admissions](http://www.admissions.umich.edu/drupal/enrollment-deposit)

You can always try to contact admissions, but I assume they want to know by May 1, for wait list students.

just got accepted!!! will be attending UMich as a sophomore!!!

open to any questions!!!

Ay yo, for all those that are accepted, lets make a group, so we wont be lonely as others already made friends at the school!

So I have to ask, for those who have been accepted what are you planning on majoring in?

thx for the information! btw, for your 105 Question, I am math student.

Anybody plan on staying on campus? was looking at the selections and looks like (as of right now) - Bursley and Northwood I are available. I’m looking at getting a single!

Also, just a question - I applied as a junior transfer and got accepted, but I was wondering if it’s possible that UMich might have accepted me as a sophomore instead? If so, would it have been indicated in my acceptance letter or something? #paranoid

LSA transfer! Plan to major in Economics!

@lakersFTW, it’s hard to say without knowing your stats. Did you get accepted as a freshman or would you likely have? If not, then you probably had no shot as a sophomore. Also, just so you know, Bursley and Northwood I are both on North Campus, which only contains CoE, Music and Art. If you’re an Econ major, you’ll have classes in Lorch, which is in the south of Central Campus and you’ll have to take the bus every day just to get to class, most of which I’m sure will be on Central. You might want to see if you have any way of switching to a room on Central and not be in Bursley with all the freshmen.

Hi anthonyxy21, thank you so much for the information regarding the housing stuff! Appreciate it :)

Anyways, I’m transferring from a community college in California and by the time I’m done with my Spring quarter a.k.a two years here, I’ll have 111 quarter units which is approximately 74 semester units (though I doubt all of it will get transferred). and nope, nothing on my letter stated like “Class of 2016” or anything. I’ll be calling the office just to make sure.

@lakersFTW- if on your transfer credit evaluation they are accepting over 55 credits you will be considered a junior. So just look at your credit evaluation and you should know. Also if you got a Fin Aid statement it will say Fall 2012 followed by class standing.

Yay accetped!

Physics major
CC GPA: 4.0
OOS junior-transfer applicant
Most lower division physics classes and all math classes completed
Most GE completed

Now just to find out the financial aid for me is probably going to suck.

@bleedmichigan I didn’t apply for Financial Aid, cos I’m an international student so it’s pretty difficult to get it either way. I was just looking at the Transfer Credit Equivalency Request on the UMich Undergraduate Admissions website and I’m only allowed to enter up to six courses? Hmm am I looking at the wrong form or something?

Sorry for bombarding with a load of questions! Pretty clueless here cos I didn’t even expect myself to get accepted!

@lakersFTW- Michigan will send you a Transfer Evaluation via an email with an attachment titled “Transfer Credit Summary” it is only tentative, but it will list the total credits Michigan is willing to take. So if Michigan is transferring more than 55 you will have junior standing, if less than sophomore standing. You can also go to Wolverine access and if you have paid the deposit log into Student Business and click on Degree Progress, then My Academic Requirements which will show you your Degree audit and the total number of credits transferred. This is all assuming that Undergrad Admissions has completed your tentative evaluation. The other option is go to this link:
[UM Transfer Credit Equivalencies](UM Transfer Credit Equivalencies)

click the state where your school is, and find your school, view all the classes and match your classes to the Michigan classes. As long as it says Dept, or a direct transfer course Michigan probably will take it. Sometimes you will have to speak to the Dept that you are majoring in to get a Dept credit applied to your major, but other than that if its listed you should be ok.

@bleedmichigan Thank yoouu so much for your help! Based on the website you gave me, I only have 48 transferable credits :frowning: ahhhh. This sucks!

@lakersFTW-
Is that based on wolverine access or on the transfer link.
Does that include this semester, and any other classes before fall? Also, I noticed that a class that was not even listed on the transfer guide, still showed up on my transfer evaluation.
Also UMichigan transfers credits based on what you earned not how many credits it counts as at UMichigan. So perhaps they have a class that is 3 credits that your current school gives as 4 credits then you will get 4 credits for it.

Accepted for fall 2012 (Political Economics Major).
I applied at Jan 30th and got an email yesterday,

Stats
Junior from University of Wisconsin-Madison: GPA 3.67
SAT 1860
Currently serving in Republic of Korea Navy

It is my second time being admitted to UMICH. I was admitted as a transfer student for fall 2010, which I was not able to attend due to the required military service.

I had to rewrite the essays, but the admissions officer told me they will consider highly of my previous admission.

Good luck to everyone!! :)

I’m suprised my application is taking so long to review and wondering if this is a sign I will be denied? Or do they just take forever to review engineering applicants?

Sent from my SPH-D700 using CC

I just found out yesterday that my application was incomplete. All I am missing is a translation for a 10 lines paper. I will try to get them the translation as soon as humanly possible but I can’t say how disgusted I am to see that my application won’t even be read after all the time I put into.

Any good news from applications to engineering college? I am wondering if this indicates I will be denied…

i am a international transfer applicant for UMich school of engineering; i havn’t heard back from them as well!
