Official Fall 2012 University of Michigan transfer thread

@anthony Wow anthony! u are from pitt too? What major are u in? Im just upset pitt doesnt have that many opportunities for econ major, and i really like u mich, visited the school in spring! And yea, i will def try for the winter term, glad to hear from a transfer student from pitt! :)

@d4wnzz, I’m actually from Michigan but went to Pitt for 3 semesters. I’m an Actuarial Math major now but I was an Econ major at Pitt and I transferred partially because of the same reason as you, a relatively weak Econ program and lack of opportunities for it. Pitt isn’t a bad school but I feel like you have to be some kind of natural science major to benefit. Anyways, if you have any other questions, feel free to ask me.

Hi everyone,
I’m planning on transferring to u of m for fall/winter 13. My stats are:
College gpa- 3.85
high school gpa- 2.5 (bad I know :frowning: )
Act- 19
Before fall 12- 33 credits
After fall 12- 45 credits
I did pretty bad in high school but I’m doing great in college I have a pretty high course load (about 15 credits a semester) and I’m in the national honors society and the honors program in my college. I’m in state and I’ve had a 4.0 gpa or the past 2 semesters. I work full time as a cna and I do some charity work. When. What do you guys think my chances are? And when Is the soonest I should apply?

Oh I was also considering getting my accociates before applying. Of I have it by summer of 13 when would be te soonest I should apply for? Also if I appy now and get rejected will it hurt my chances of getting in if I apply again later?

People who were accepted for the Fall of 2012 - would anyone be nice enough to let me take a look at their essays?

Thanks in advance.

hello i’m a sophomore at georgia tech (industrial engineering major) looking to transfer to michigan ann arbor for winter 2012 semester. i was just wondering how much they take into account the college you’re transferring from. nearly all transfer students seem to come from colleges a lot less prestigious than michigan, but since i’m coming from georgia tech, which probably has a slightly better engineering program than michigan, will that help my chances of getting in regardless of my gpa and everything else?

Closing 2012 thread, please move the discussion to the 2013 thread.
