A member on this forum with a 4.0 GPA + outstanding extra-curricular activities + all pre-reqs completed was still rejected by Berkeley

Hate to say this but its different each year because the amount of students applying vary each year. It also depends on how many people apply for the major. Although your stats look awesome i think you will either get an yes or a no lol. id say you got like 100% chance of making it all the colleges lol, don’t waste your time trying to find the chance of you making it in believe me i’ve wasted months on it and all it gave me was more anxiety. In the end no one really knows, the way i look at it is you have a chance of making it in if you have not been rejected.

Free advice: don’t waste time on this forum just yet because all it will do is make this the longest year of you life lol

I’LL root for you good luck next year:)

I second Darkpain! I’m a recently admitted transfer student of UCLA, and have spent way too much time on College Confidential trying to find the chance of me making it in -.-.

@Momo, killer stats, achievements, and involvements, though! Be sure to maintain that 4.0/3.92 and write honest and strong personal statements. I’m confident you’ll make UCLA and UCSD!

CCC Transfer Fall 2013 to CAL, UCLA, UCD, UCSD, UCI.

First Gen College Student (My mom is a legal alien)

Major: Political Science

Transcripts/GPA:
Out of State CC - 3.03 (Only 2 classes transferred to my CCC, so IGETC and Major Pre-reqs all completed at CCC)
CCC (Fullerton College) - 3.85 (IGETC and All Major Pre-reqs (missing one for UCD and UCI))

EC’s:
Writing Center Tutor
Freshman Writing Award Nominee
MC at Worldfest (School Event)
Debate Team
Student Government Senator
Internship for School Board Campaign

So basically I was in a major motorcycle accident after I moved to Cali where an unlicensed driver struck me, my neck was sliced open and my jugular vein was severed. Thanks to a very kind man who saw it all happen and rushed to stop the bleeding from my neck I’m still alive. This event is what made me want to pursue public service, and I will use it in my personal statements to explain why my grades were so much better at my CCC (had a 3.7 and 4.0 the last 2 semesters) and why my community volunteer work began (because I had found my calling).

Thanks!

What is your overall GPA? They will just be looking at 1.

The 3.03 at my out of state CC was for 26 semester units, so cumulative GPA if they take everything would be 3.6. Only 2 of my classes, 5 units, transferred to my CCC though so I have no idea what the UC’s will take.

@momo2492: Holy crap. Those are good stats. Your EC’s are amazing, and you clearly know what you want in life. Conservatively, I’d say: UCB (80% chance), UCLA (90% chance), UCSD (100% chance). But then again, the UC’s are really, dare I say, schizophrenic in admitting students, so just be careful in what you take away from this thread and CC in general.

@cannonball: If I recall correctly, there were a couple UCB Political Science admits that had statistics similar to yours. Your EC’s look great, and in my mind, the only thing that can hurt you would potentially be your GPA and personal statement.

I third DarkPain! This site has got to be the best and worst thing ever. Great to find information. Worst because it psychs you out. Like crazy.

CCC Transfer 2013 to UCB, UCLA, UCSD, UCD

Chemical Engineering or possibly chemistry if i decide i’m a lunatic for attempting ChemE

4.0 GPA Major GPA

EC:

Been working 30+ hours a week since I was 16

Yup, my EC’s are weak and I’m clearly indecisive about what I want to be doing, but let me hear it (please!)

I feel like fall 2013 is going to be the most hardest year for transfers, alot of things has changed (UCI/UCSD has changed their TAG agreement/“Minimum” GPA requirement more accordingly, they ‘up the standard’ from the regular 3.0+) and we know that the UCSD TAG program is being phased out by fall 2014 b/c of the issues that they encountered this year. According to many UC reps/media they said that Fall 2012 was year that they received the lowest amount of transfers in UC history but projected most that did not apply for Fall 2012 will go ‘full-out’ for Fall 2013. So I believe with my calculation, ALOT more transfer student will apply for Fall 2013 (about 34%+ with this year’s projections) and it will be VERY COMPETITIVE than the previous three years.

Good Luck to you all and Brace Yourself! its going to be a wild one

CCC transfer from Diablo Valley. I’m applying to UCSD, UCD, UCI, UCSC, and Cal Poly SLO, although Davis is where I really want to go.

Major: Computer Science
GPA: 3.03
EC’s: secretary of Russian Club, secretary of Computer Science Club, Activity Manager of Engineering Student Council
I will be 100% finished with all my pre-reqs and IGETC next spring. Thanks!

applying to:
UC Davis: Chemistry (TAG)
UC Santa Cruz: Human Biology (possibly TAG if I decide not to with Davis)
San Francisco State: Biochemistry (back-up school)

All pre-reqs will be complete for all three majors except for the physics series (i’ve heard that’s pretty common with bio/chem majors?)
IGETC will be complete
I’ve also taken speech which was needed to fulfill the state school’s transfer student requirements  ugh

UC GPA: 3.22
Overall GPA: 3.45

EC’s: I have had two part-time jobs, and for a few months they overlapped, but now I’m down to one. I’ve been working since I was 15. I was a member of MESA for a year (mathematics, engineering, science association i think it stands for?). I attended a Pre-Med/Pre-public Health Conference at UCD last fall. I have tutored spanish and algebra since High School (although I’ve recently completely stopped). I volunteered at a BioMedical Office for all of 2011, which entailed nothing but random office chores. I also house-sit for many people. Not sure how important that one is but whatever, I’m going for it. I’ve been taking college courses since I was a sophomore in High School and have never taken a semester off since (including summers).
I would sell my soul to get into Davis but I’m really not one hundred percent confident that my stats will take me there. I need reassurance please!
thank you! :)

@lunchbox i was accepted to Davis this cycle with a 3.2 gpa off the waitlist for Bio Sci…it is very possible with your gpa just make sure you have everything done and keep your grades up

@md oh wow congratulations!!! I’ve seen some of your posts about being on the waitlist. So stressful!!
But thank you that’s definitely reassuring. I originally intended to transfer as bio sci major but I got a C in the first course of the bio sequence so that option seemed out of the question. I talked to a Davis rep and she said I might still have a chance if I manage to pull a B in the next course in the sequence when i take it thise fall but I’m not sure I want to risk it.
AHH! So many decisions.
Thanks for your reply!

@lunchbox thank you it was really stressful definitely got some gray hairs from this whole experiece lol… i think this application is going to be much more difficult…i know that one requirement is if you finish the entire bio sequence the average for the sequence must be at least 2.5 so if you can get that youll be ok…in all honesty if you want to just get in to UCD stick with Chem like you planned because it is not impacted like bio majors… best of luck to you and everyone else applying!

Anyone wanna give me a chance overview? Kinda anxious to see what people think…

GPA: 3.63

**I did my first year at a CSU and now I’m doing classes at CC (Summer 12’, Fall 12, Spring 13’). I’ll finish the IGETC by spring and have all pre-reqs done (accept for one because the school does not offer it)

-I’ll have 66.67 Semester units/ 100 Quarter units by Spring 13’!

EC:
