@ atlastmail: You’re pretty much in for UCLA Anthro! Not sure about Cal though.

Thanks for the response iDizzle! If that’s how the cards fall I’m going to have a hard time choosing between UCLA/UCSC.

@ atlastmail: I had a hard time choosing between UCLA and Davis. I had psyched myself up for Davis just because I thought UCLA was “unrealistic” for me. So when I did get accepted into LA I was almost disappointed since I had been so excited for Davis. LOL

How bad is it that I just submitted the supplemental app for Berkeley that was due January? Lol I know I’m screwed probably but I figured I’d ask anyway. They said it “jeopardizes your admission” if its turned in late. Am I automatically screwed then?

Junior Transfer 2013
At time of transfer= Complete IGETC and Major Prep

EC:
Honors Program at my community college
80+ hours of community service for a summer camp in my community
Science and Math tutoring
Coaching Frosh/soph lacrosse at my old high school
I work 20 or so hours a week at my part time job for a non-profit organization

Any guess on my chances?

@Beijing

I’d say that you’re in at UCI/UCSD/UCSB.
Your chances at Berkeley is kinda shaky, but you still have a chance there.
As for UCLA, I’m assuming you applied with TAP since you did the honors program at your CC, correct? If so, I think you are likely to get in, even with your below average GPA (for econ).

Btw, how can your major GPA be 4.0? I am 100% certain that Calc II is a prereq for all econ majors.

lol @xorrazor

@EconLife
Why wouldn’t you think you’d be jeopardized if they specifically said that on the application and in the emails they sent about it? They’re not gonna get to your app after sending it in this late. They might just throw it out altogether. On the upside, you may have freed up a space for someone else who applied to the school… like me for instance

Hi,

Does anybody know if Statistics major in both UCB and UCLA is an impacted major? Is it very competitive?

Thanks

@ fajey1: At UCLA the avg GPA admitted is a 3.72.

@ fajey1

UCB and UCLA Statistics are not impacted. However, you will probably need a 3.7+ GPA and all/most of the tough prereqs done. (including multivariable calculus, linear algebra, diff. equations, etc.)

So how are everyone’s application decisions going? My sister has already heard from UCR, UCSC and UCSD.

Hi,

Thanks for ur rep. I want to ask if I get 3.84 till fall and this winter I have 1W for my pre-req (Math class) since I am sick. do u think it will affect my decision to UCB/UCLA?

Thanks

@DescartesQ

You’re right about the major GPA. My mistake. So my major GPA is actually a bit lower. I’m not expecting UCLA or Berkeley regardless. I just found out I got into UCSD today with a letter in the mail though! The last one I’m really hoping for is UCI though.

UCSB decisions start to come out tomorrow

@ Beijing: Congrats! My sister got a letter of acceptance in the mail today from UCSD too. Econ also.

@iDizzle: Thanks! It’s a fantastic feeling to finally receive an acceptance letter from a UC after being rejected by all the UCs I applied to out of high school. Though this time, I got rejected by SLO again, and I’m still kinda shocked by that…though I’m not sure if I should be or not :

@Beijing

I like your name, bro! The capital of China is where I always wanna have a visit. Anyways, nice to see you being admitted to UCSD. I am still waiting. O _ O

Schools: UCD, UCSC, UCSB, UCR, UCI

Major: Psychology
Alt: Philosophy
GPA: ~3.6 on app
IGETC: completed fall 2012 @ CC
Pre-reqs: completed only for UCD, fall 2012 @ CC
EC: one quarter of Honors Club & Cross-Cultural Exchange…
+ volunteer work (which I accidentally listed as a job) 16 hrs a week…
A.A magna cum laude

I was denied my TAG with UCD because I was enrolled at SJSU last spring and was not going to have anymore classes to take this spring at CC (one of their TAG criteria is to have been enrolled at CCC from spring 2012 - spring 2013, unfortunately). That was a big bummer and I had to apply to other schools in case I don’t get into Davis. I’m really worried I won’t get in anywhere now.

I have quite a few W’s on my transcript, including 5 from SJSU. In addition to that, I have several gaps in my education when I’ve had to take time off for personal reasons. My GPA is only low because of poor grades I got during my first quarter of college (strong upward trend). Since then I have mostly A’s and several B’s, a 4.0 gpa in my pre-reqs, 3.8 or so in my major. This is about the only thing I have going for me haha, if that.

I mistakenly put volunteer work under work experience on my app, and flubbed up (i.e inflated) the hours for one of my jobs that I held years ago because I couldn’t remember.
I have meager extra-curricular activities that span only several weeks from a couple years ago when I transferred out of CC the first time.

I have a dissociative disorder (part of why I’ve been in and out of college) which I wrote about for one of the personal statements, and am from a single-parent low-income household.

I was told I was highly competitive for UCD by my counselor and a Davis admissions rep, but after reviewing the stats of other transfer students this year, I am very worried I will be denied. I think my time at SJSU and the tersely explained gaps really work against me, and I’m worried about those careless little flubbers I made on my app.

Do you think my stats are good enough for me to get in anywhere? (Davis especially)
as for pre-req completion for the other schools, I am pretty much just missing the pre-calc/calc sequences :(

I am super worried! and sorry this is so long!

@ Beijing: I don’t think you should be too sad about not getting into SLO. You got into UCSD, an upper tier UC!

@ Moongazer: I don’t think you should be too worried.

@iDizzle just curious: did the my application site not update for your sister, and she received an acceptance in the mail? Or she just wasn’t checking the website? Has it updated now? I ask because I get mail at a po box that I have to go and check, and I haven’t checked since Saturday and I can’t check until tomorrow… I’m still waiting to hear from UCSD (with a 4.0 GPA sheesh). Same question for you @Beijing…
