@Jevano Under-represented minority. African Americans, Native Americans, Hispanics, etc. Does not usually include Asian Americans or Indian Americans.

ok thanks for that @KingofSweden. Well @letters95 I am not African American, but I am of Afro-Caribbean decent. The recent news worried me a little bit, but after I did some further research on the situation at Dartmouth and found out what almun and current students think, I came to the conclusion that racism and other problems are present at the school but they are few and far in between. I might be wrong though, because I am sure that some of the things you would perceive as racist I wouldn’t. There is a general view where I am from that Americans tend to get very sensitive and defensive when it comes on to issue concerning race–it might just be one big generalization though.

Here is what I mean. Recent there was a Hispanic student who felt it offensive that some sororities where have a fiesta theme party to raise money for charity research–not saying she is wrong. Now as for me it they were having a Raggae or Caribbean theme party to raise money for charity I would not only approve of it I would be reveling in my new found popularity and be on the planning committee to ensure that the party is talk about for years to come.

A quick reminder that the # of posts on CC does not correlate with your chances of getting in. Honestly, I am not trying to be a ■■■■■. I got into Columbia last year, and just got into Cornell CAS. I stayed at Northwestern because the social connections were too strong. The only reason I am applying again is because of family health issues. My advice is to stay off of these threads. They make you go crazy. At the end of the day they mean nothing. I am not going to call anyone out, but for example one person that I saw dominated the Cornell thread and acted like they were getting in, only to get rejected. There is no formula to acceptance. I do not mean to sound like a dick, I am just giving my two cents while being brutally honest. Having said that, I hope you guys all do well and end up somewhere where you can be happy.

Good lucks guys!

@bookznhoopz I think that’s apparent to most.

I heard they might release decisions very soon!

@letters95 source? :)

@KingofSweden I emailed them because I feared my extension was not long enough.

@letters95 very soon as in this week?

@Jevano Yes, they hope to. I emphasize the word “hope” because it is not definite. But at least they’re thinking to release them soon instead of in June like other schools. I am SO nervous!! I wish y’all the best of luck!!

It will be released on May 13. Soon enough ladies and gentlemen.

I’m sorry to be the one to have to share this, but they over admitted this year and will not be going to regular decision wait list. They’ll also admit less transfers to accommodate the Class of 2018

How much bearing does an oversized Class of 2018 actually have on transfers into the Class of 2017/2016?

@PallidPallas it’s about bed space. And classroom space, I guess. They just will not have as much room to accommodate us.

No exact numbers have been announced, but the article states that there will be an effect. There’s still a chance for you guys though - don’t lose hope.

“The Admissions Office will admit fewer transfer students than in past years to accommodate the large class size.”

Damn it.

Just our luck lol

@ouryellowpaint well that is some very devastating news :(…suddenly I am a lot less hopeful.
I wonder what the actual number for this year will be.

http://thedartmouth.com/2014/05/06/news/yield-sees-increase-to-54-5-percent

This article give us some figures. They are planning to accept 15 transfer students, they had originally planned for 30

@bumblebees where did you hear about the May 13th decision date? :)
