That’s amazing man! Seattle is where I grew up for the most part. I’m in love with the city, the weather is amazing the school is wonderful, The Physics department is great I has everything I want/need except the OOS price… I’ve gotten into other colleges besides Penn State but that is my 2nd choice. If I do get accepted I’ll have a hard time deciding. PS offered me a 24K grant which is hard to pass up. Shrugs U-Dub doesn’t really offer OOS students scholarships and such… at least from my understanding they don’t

I’m not really sure, but I think UW is my top choice… I just really love Seattle and I love the architecture of the buildings on campus. Plus I want a big school like this. I don’t know, I think I’ll be okay when I get my rejections because then my choice will be a little bit easier.

@Wendydarrling first of all your profile pic, that’s a really good movie! I love the Breakfast Club. And yeah that’s how I feel. I love the Gothic architecture and when/if I do get my rejection from U-Dub I think I’ll feel relieved kinda like I can move on with my life now

Just a quick question for y’all:

I know the decision dates are March 15-31. I also am 80% sure Washington mails decisions.

So is March 15th the first day one could receive a decision or the first day they are put in the outgoing mailbox at Washington?

UW does mail decisions, and I guess you could be on the lookout on March 15th but it’s more likely you’ll receive a letter within a few business days.

Who knows, I’m hoping it’ll be posted online through the transcript trick by this weekend…

@LonghornNation U-Dub does offer OOS scholarships!

For the longest time, I had my heart set on attending UW until I visited in October and was incredibly disappointed. Anyway, it was the school of my dreams, but I’m from the other UW here in Wisconsin, so out-of-state tuition was costly; naturally, I decided to search the internet for hours and found out that they offer a $13k renewable merit scholarship for OOS students. Apparently, this is the first year they have it! It was confirmed at the info meeting I attended, too. I don’t know how competitive it is, but I’d say if you have a GPA over 3.8 and an SAT 2100+, you have a chance!

Good luck to everyone! Hope you all get acceptances come the next couple weeks. :)

why were you disappointed @ablasco??

Oh ablasco, that sounds good, my D is OOS and her stats would qualify her for the merit scholarship. We’ll have t to wait and see, good luck to all!

@NinRash Something just didn’t feel right with me! I had really high hopes and I think when it didn’t live up to what I thought it would be in my head, it really disappointed me. I loved the city itself, the campus is gorgeous, and the academics are of course great, but it felt really impersonal to me. It was too far for me too, the thought of my family not being able to drop me off and help me get my dorm set up scared me!

@soonmtnest Best of luck to her!

My stats aren’t good enough for merit scholorships… and sorry to hear about that experience @Ablasco

Glad to know I am not the only one stressing out!

Of Course not! Millions of highschoolers US are stressing about decisions. And a little over 31,000 are stressing over U-Dub. You’re not alone

hopefully the unofficial transcript trick works this weekend. Also, does anyone know if the message on your MyUW will change from “thank you for applying to UW…” to the final decision on the 15th?

Yeah. I haven’t heard uw give scholarships to OOS in particular either. @LonghornNation UW is probably my most Realistic choice. I got hopes from the UCs, BentleyU,Dickinson College, etc. But I’m really up for UW. There’s just something about it. I think it’s the whole urban campus+diversity+course combination. And think about it, UW has been moving upwards on the national rankings as well. The Foster B school (which I’m interested in) has been tied 25th nationally. Then there’s the famous UW medicine we all know about. The school is moving ahead. Who wouldn’t want to be part of it? Maybe a half a dozen years down the lane UW would be a super competitive school who’d only look at applications with 2200SATs and a million ECs. Guess it’d be awesome to be an alumni too eh? :p

I wouldn’t doubt that @Rusty34. I want to be a part of UW. Like you said, it’s an upcoming University. Seattle is getting a lot of attraction nowadays. I want to contribute to the diversity of the campus. I believe they only have about 5% African American students or somewhere around there. Speaking of diversity, I think they accept a little more diverse cultured more so than Caucasians or Anglo-Americans, which if they do would be a bonus for me

@breezybee I was wondering the same. It says that this message will not change until a decision has been made. But I’m sure decisions have already been made, or at least a significant proportion of them. The deadline was 1st December 2013. It’s Mid March now. That’s a good 3 and a half months to look at 31,000 applications

That’s a good question, I didn’t read that. That would be be interesting to see if they did actually do that

According to the Seattle Times the instate accept rate is UP.

That information is for high school students living in Washington State only
