Congrats @TreeGoat! Just curious, what major did you apply to?

Pratt biomedical engineering!

Bumping this thread for all those on the waitlist. Hopefully we hear back in the next week or two.

@TheEarlyBird Best of luck to you and all of us here on CC. I suspect we should hear something by the end of this week.

I can no longer log into my portal at applicants.siss.duke.edu. I expect we should be hearing back from admissions soon.

@KingofSweden you can’t log in at all? I can log in but my home page is blank and my worklist tab just has an empty table. Not sure if this means anything though.

My portal goes back and forth from a blank home page to a “You are not authorized for this page.” message. I guess it just means that they closed the portal for all applicants. Based on my contact with the admissions office, I don’t think any decisions have been made yet for waitlisted transfer applicants.

No updates so far. Just finished my last final so now I can focus my energy on waiting for the email and obsessing haha

@TheEarlyBird Same here. I would think if Duke was not using their waiting list for transfers, they would have notified us by now. Best of luck to everyone who is still waiting.

Got the call from my admissions officer today…I GOT IN!! <:-P

Best of luck to anyone still waiting!

@KingofSweden Same!! I was utterly speechless when I got the call!! Still in disbelief but now I’m faced with yet again another difficult life decision. Is there a Facebook group already?

@TheEarlyBird My family and I went totally berserk with jubilation. This is a big moment for us all!

I don’t believe there is a Facebook group, official or otherwise.

@KingofSweden I think there is. It’s called “Duke Transfers 2014-2015”. Come join! And I’m so glad we were both able to get in!

^ edit: “Duke Transfer Class 2014-15” is the group name.

can anyone of you two tell me about your gpa or other extra infos? Thanks!

Hey all. I couldn’t find any official 2015 duke transfer thread so I figured future applicants looking for information will look at this thread. I just got my acceptance today so I thought I’d post my stats for future people to see.

Admitted into Duke’s Computer Science program.
jtranxferman, I too was admitted for transfer this year! For everyone else:
I’m an international student from Colombia, so admissions was probably not as strict with ACT/SAT/AP scores…
I was a little bit sloppy in HS, so I had to make up in college to prove myself: I hope you see it’s never too late to start improving! I was admitted to Pratt as a rising sophomore; I was definitely not expecting it!
Anyway:
Highschool:
4.1/5.00 GPA (somewhat sloppy)
Rank: Top 40%
School Government: House Captain (most prestigious leadership position there)
Special Arts and Music Diploma
1820 SAT – 520CR, 550W, 750M… (I had to take this again in college)
AP Calculus AB: 5
AP Physics C Mechanics: 5
AP Music Theory: 3
College:
(2nd best, if not best, university in Colombia)
22nd highest national entrance exam score in the country (45,000 applicants)
4.8/5.00 GPA – third highest in the entire university.
Department Rank: 1/450
3 consecutive times awarded a “Golden Tuition Fee” (Full scholarship awarded to the student with highest GPA in the program–all semesters included).
Participated in some robotics events.
ASME student member.
2090 SAT – Math: 790, Critical Reading: 630, Writing: 670
SATII Math II: 800
SATII Physics: 800
31 ACT – Reading 25 , English 30, Math 36, Science 34
111 Toefl – Reading 26, Listening 29, Speaking 28, Writing 28
My essays–which I believe were the main reason for my acceptance-- were mostly about how I believed transfering would help me get the tools necessary to come back to Colombia and make the difference needed for us to flourish as a nation. One creative essay talking about how I was able to get the best out of my parents’ divorce when I was a child.
I hope my post will encourage you, if you feel that your SAT/AP scores aren’t too impressive, to give it a try and be creative in your application!
