Official fall 2014 transfer thread

Any CALS people try the transfer eval page again? No more error, just back to giving me the message that they don’t have me as accepted.

Congrats congrats! Now I am antsy for my admissions letter haha.

@PaintTheSilence‌ can you please post stats! When did you submit your app? When did they check off all your materials? And whats your major? Sorry for all the questions! Please help us all out!

@PaintTheSilence‌ also congrats!!! :smiley:

@PaintTheSilence congratulations!

Hey guys! I am applying to as a junior transfer to ILR. My brother got into ILR from the same CC i am at now, and he heard back the first week of may in 2011. But i had a friend who got into AEM last year as trasfer and heard back april 15th.

@000AAAaaa Thank you! It’s okay about the questions. I actually applied to CAS and submitted my application on Feb. 19. I applied as a sociology major, but in my essays I mentioned my interest in pursuing research with a specific professor who happens to be working and teaching at CHE. I got an email from the Sr. Director of Admissions who asked if I wanted to be considered for both colleges and I said yes. Today I had a phone call with the Sr.Director of Admissions at CHE, and at the end of our conversation he told me that they would like to offer me a place. :)

As for my materials, they have all been checked off since early March and the message “has been forwarded for review” came up about 2-3 weeks ago. I haven’t received any emails or letters, but he told me they will be preparing the package for me today.

Stats:
Junior Transfer (community college)
College GPA: 3.8 (although, I’ll probably be getting my 2nd B this semester).
High school GPA: Dismal…like…truly bad.
SAT II : 770 Literature
ACT : 29 (Yeah, I know. It was math and science. I got 33+ in English and Reading)
Recommendations: From what I know, -very strong-.
Essays: Very strong (At least, that’s what I thought. lol)

I’m happy to answer questions, but I’m no admissions expert. I just liked Cornell and decided to apply.

P.S
I hope no Cornell administrators read this forum, because I think this post totally gives away my identity. Who knows if they frown upon such things? :)

So excited!!! Anyone else from Cali?

Lets all just take a deep breath, whatever happens, happens. Theres always Binghamton lol

Lol @darshmark I got in there too

Congrats @PaintTheSilence

Those accepted, do you what time you got your e-mails/calls?

@ansci412 i heard thats what one of the orientation counselors at binghamton said once, “Welcome to Binghamton, and we are sorry that you didn’t get into Cornell.” haha

Thanks,@wellletshope! I got the email asking whether I’d like to be considered for both colleges around 3pm last Friday, but the phone call today was at a time I requested (2pm).

@PaintTheSilence‌ thank you so much for taking the time to answer all my questions so thoughtfully, I really appreciate it. Sounds like you really deserve it :slight_smile: hope that I can someday attend the same school as you! Haha i see that you are also applying to Columbia.
Do you think you will attend Cornell?

@000AAAaaa I think it’s highly likely that I will attend Cornell. Though, I haven’t received anything on FA or any word from other schools on whether or not I have been accepted or rejected, so I can’t say that with absolute certainty. As you mentioned, I also applied to Columbia, but I did not apply via GS so I think those chances are pretty slim (just look at those stats, lol), and that I would probably pick Cornell over Columbia anyway. :)

I hope you and everyone else have the same luck! I would love some others on CC to meet with the same success!

@PaintTheSilence would you mind me asking what GS is?

@wellletshope GS stands for General Studies. It’s the non-traditional school at Columbia University. You have to have had your education interrupted for 1 year or more in order to apply, and it has a reputation for having somewhat more lax requirements for admission. From what I understand, you take many of the same classes as Columbia College students and get a degree from Columbia University. I was encouraged to apply to GS, but was deterred due to their infamous habit of failing to provide proper financial aid to GS students. Columbia or not, I am not willing take on $200,000+ in debt for school.Since Columbia College has a far lower acceptance rate and is therefore much harder to gain access to, I am not holding my breath for an acceptance letter. Only time will tell, though!

Thank you for your answer now and before @PaintTheSilence

@darshmark I have a feeling i’ll be hearing that this August, lol.

@ansci412 I get the same message
