Official fall 2014 transfer thread

@UofU2014Cornell‌ from earlier post//

Applying: Econ & Mathematics (Econ is my primary major)
School: Top 30 state school
GPA: 4.00
Standing: Will be a junior
Credits: 103 so far Have been averaging 20 credits a semester. Pretty sure most will not transfer lol
hs GPA: ~3.8
SAT: 2300
EC’s: VP for a social organization. Treasurer for a diversity fostering organization. A director of finance for a student-run finance company (closed out a deal that will bring in ~$10000 to give out as loans), couple more leadership positions. Had an internship at a bank during the summer, research experience, etc.
Ethnicity: International, Asian (anti hook, but full pay).
Hook(?): An economics professor who favors me very much wrote me a personal recommendation addressing Cornell Economics Department (i think) - he got his Ph.D from Cornell, and I am a Ph.D hopeful as well (which I addressed in my Cornell supplementary question).

Aww that’s such a bummer but I’m not surprised because last year CAS people got their decisions from the third week of April onwards. Oh well.

Applying:AEM
School: UVA Honors
GPA: 3.91
Standing: Sophomore
Credits: 33 without APs. ( Think i have only 30 or something Ap credits if Bio and Chem count as 8 each)
hs GPA: ~3.67 (Yea its ■■■■)
SAT: 2320
EC’s:2 Sport Varsity Athlete, All state clarinet player, did some clubs and started a 4H club. Didn’t really get involved in many clubs other than 4H
Ethnicity:Asian from heavily populated asian town where everyone goes to an ivy -_-
Hook(?): Did research at UVA with grad student on Coase’s theorem on transaction costs?

I got into AEM but was offered a GT transfer into ILR.(Applied to a different major). This definitely helped and I received both my decisions relatively early. Best of Luck to everyone:) I’m sure the good news will come pouring in soon.

Wow… You guys have exceptional Stats. I don’t think I am a competitive applicant at all!! By the way, what do you guys get in the financial aid to do list???

@MYOMOO I think the fact that you are applying to Cornell means you got what it takes :). CAS is just so nerve wracking because they probably choose among applicants based on what departments they can enhance and so on.

here’s too. I come here every few hours to check out what’s going on

Got my acceptance in the mail today!!! College of Human Ecology majoring in Human Development with a concentration in Law & Psyche!! hope i get some decent financial aid

Nothing new for me yet.

@cjburton23‌ wow congrats! not going to lie that took my breath away, so happy for you! I am also humanec hopeful
hehe you applied to BC too :stuck_out_tongue:

can you log into housing? has you app page changed at all? what date was it dated anddd one last question sorry haha when was your app sent for review

thanks in advance

@000AAAaaa no problem happy to help!! My app was sent to review in mid-late March i believe however, I was contacted on 4/7 from a representative of the Human ec college to change my major from Soc to Human development (something about being better fit for their law program which i tend to go through). I had to write a formal major change and a new “interest” essay and email it to the representative (which i did on the 8th). I received a conditional acceptance today (have to take bio in summer) and it was sent on the 10th (live in california). Nothing has been updated yet on my app page. The mail i got today said that it would take another week before i receive my actual packet with housing information, etc…

Congrats, @cjburton23 ! I got the official letter in the mail today, too! It’s funny, because our situations are very similar (I also switched from sociology to HumEc) No word on the housing website, though. Is there a separate link for CHE?

@cjburton thank you so much

@cjburton @PaintTheSilence Congrat! could you please share your application feature?

This wait…is terrible.

I was at CALS today and sat in on a couple animal science classes with a friend who goes there. It was amazing. I really have my heart set :(

On another note I also visited Binghamton University this weekend and it was pretty nice, in case anyone’s wondering, lol.
