I’m not sure, the main issue is registration… UNC is a fantastic school, so I have to assume it’s worth it. Even if we don’t get all the classes we need next year.

Sure! I have a unique situation.

Transferring from: NC Community College
Classification: Sophomore - Applying to be a Junior
– BUT!! I previously attended another university for a loooong time, but I didn’t graduate. (lots of credits)
GPA: 4.0 from 1 semester at NCCC – GPA when I left other univ. was low (< 3.0).
High School GPA: good/high ~top 10% - lots of honors & AP - (ancient so I don’t have a number, sorry)
SAT/ACT: didn’t send (ancient)

EC’s
Really nothing to write home about, the usual… PTK, Beta, a few clubs in HS, volunteering, and work.

I will complete my AA this semester, and I am expecting a 4.0 this semester.
~ I had a long-time friend/peer write a LOR for me (UNC alum currently attending an ivy).
…I doubt it was even considered, but he thought it wouldn’t hurt.

I think my essay was really heartfelt and kind of awesome, which I think had a lot do with me being waitlisted rather than flat out rejected.

So! Who wants to place bets on what day we’ll find out?! lol

I’ll bet it’s somewhere around the first two weeks of June, since the enrollment deadline for accepted students is May 15th and they’ll have to re-evaluate all of our applications. I wonder how many students were offered a place on the waitlist and how many accepted the offer, though; that could make the wait longer.

@SimonK I agree. I definitely think UNC is worth it; it’s such a great school. I really love how they are so community-oriented and that they have such challenging academics, too. I guess if we get accepted, maybe we can register to be on class wait-lists if it comes down to that. I’m sure spaces would open up later on. I’m not ready to give up on the dream of going to UNC just yet :)

It looks like last year they knew by the end of May, but I doubt we’ll be so lucky.
I’m kind of glad to have time to send a final transcript though…
I looked over everyone’s stats, and I feel like for sure you guys will get in.

You guys, I read on UNC’s website that you can only waitlist one class per semester, and the credit-hour cap is 18 credits. Uh oh

It seems like a lot of you haven’t heard back from UNC and I’m curious as to why? I was accepted in mid-April as a transfer and I’m OOS and it seems that some of you have better stats than I do. Does anyone know why this happened, or do they release decisions on a rolling basis?

Don’t need to be worried about course enrollment if you come to UNC late. Most the instructors will help you with wait list of getting into your selected courses if you come to the first day of class! Be sure to do that even though you do not enroll the course!

From a last year transfer student at UNC.

So how long will it be before wait listed students start hearing decisions back?

I think students are supposed to find out between May 15 - June 30. Probably more likely towards the end of June.

Has anyone… or everyone… sent in a final transcript?
I just ordered mine because my grades weren’t posted until today. ;/
I’m hoping it gets reviewed before my final decision because it is pretty much my only saving grace.
It’s about time to start getting all anxious and stuff again… lol

I sent in my final college transcript, but I didn’t send in another high school transcript since I sent one with my original application. Did anyone else send a follow up letter to admissions after receiving their wait listed decision?

I really wanted to send in an additional LOR, but the paper suggested not to send in anything except a final transcript, so I bailed. I’m regretting my choice though.

I understand. I just took a chance and wrote them a letter expressing my summer plans and that if I received admission, i guarantee to accept. I’m not sure if it was good or not, but my thoughts were hopefully it couldn’t hurt and I’d read on a few websites the best thing to do when you’re wait listed is not wait. xD

I think that’s awesome. I wish I hadn’t talked myself out of it. =/

I also sent in a letter of interest. I don’t think that not having done so will hurt your chances; don’t worry about it!

So I have some bad news,y’all. I called yesterday and spoke to one of the deans who told me as of right now it doesn’t look like they’ll be taking anyone off of the wait list. He said if things are really lucky, they might take as many as 20, but that no decisions over wait listed students have even been made yet. :(

That’s a huge bummer. :(

Yeah. Have y’all already enrolled at other schools? And are y’all applying as sophomores or juniors?

I’m applying as a junior.
My backup schools have late/rolling deadlines and aren’t nearly as competitive, so I haven’t even applied anywhere else, and I won’t until I hear from UNC. I have to send in so many transcripts plus application fees, it adds up quick. I live near Chapel Hill, so my backups are location based… NCCU, UNCG, or, as a last resort, I could seek readmission to NCSU, but I really don’t want to. =/
