Official Fall 2015 Brown Transfer Thread

Anyone heard back yet?

@puncherkid Pretty sure everyone hears back within the same few days sometime in May. Last year was May 14 and 15.

Hey fellow Brown transfer applicants! I’m so glad this forum was started. I go to a community college in Baltimore so I am well aware of how much of a long shot Brown is. You don’t know until you try though, right? After visiting Brown, I couldn’t not apply. It is such a wonderful place and they were so excited I was a prospective transfer student. You certainly don’t get that reaction at a lot of schools…

Glad there are some people here in the same boat…this waiting game is driving me crazy.

Did anyone apply via the RUE program?

any other junior applicants or public health majors?

Junior applicant! Not public health though

@transfer099 IDOC isn’t same as FAFSA or CSS. Just log into your account and what document you need to submit (They’re likely to ask a copy of tax return, etc.) and follow the direction.

I haven’t heard anything back from Brown in a while which I am assuming is good that they have everything they need to make a decision. I sure hope this process moves quicker than Georgetown.

is it the same for everyone: the decision column says “click here” but after you do, it pops out a page saying not yet available?

@Miyamoto No, I don’t have a decision column…or at least I don’t see it.

Lol, nevermind bout the column. But there’s nothing clickable on mine.

Brown didn’t announce decisions until May 15th last year, probably gonna be a while still.

@Miyamoto Based on last year’s thread, that means your application has already been reviewed but it doesn’t mean anything more than that. There are a couple of people who had that and were then rejected/waitlisted. However, you can safely assume that they have already made a decision for your app;)

@MarkLee1995 I found out that by checking last year thread. Thank you for the info though. I noticed last year the buttons disappeared for a while, just curious to know what that meant

@Miyamoto That doesn’t seem to mean much. I noticed that some got accepted and some didn’t. The only thing that guarantees an acceptance is when you have a “Spring” column showing up, which means you are already accepted to Spring.

Someone from my school already found out they got in (junior transfer student) I think it’s mildly rolling.

Aside from indicating that you’re willing to transfer in the spring (which I’m guessing most people did) what do you think is involved in getting admitted fall vs. spring? Any pattern in the past? I’m just wondering how they make that decision.

@timidnotion i have heard that if its between sophomore and junior who are about equal, they may be more likely to offer the sophomore spring entrance because a junior won’t be able to graduate on time since you need 4 semesters at brown to graduate

Well it’s tough because all of our credits are not going to transfer…so even as a junior applicant…I would still be there for 4 semesters+

I don’t think your transfer status matters as much, unless of course you did poorly in high school or got a low grade in the beginning of your college career. Ja feel?

yeah I’m not sure! when i spoke with someone before they told me most classes from a 4 year institution should transfer. since brown has no core and you’re supposed to be able to finish any major there in two years, unless you’re double majoring etc. @JCW77 i know they have to fill certain quotas for each, so its basically just depends on the applicant pool
