@Collegeyadayada Yeah, I knew there was a financial aid issue for transfer admission, and I knew about their need-aware policy. Was just wondering the extent of it. Honestly, it’s kind of nice knowing that if I’m turned down I can blame it on FA and choose to believe that it had nothing to do with my qualifications, haha.
It sucks though. You’d think a school like Brown wouldn’t have to make decisions based on who can pay. Ah well.
@Collegeyadayada Thanks for the info. And no worries. It is no downer, because I’m very well aware that it’s very unlikely to get in if I apply for financial aid. But why not trying? Also, all other schools I applied for are need-blind for transfer students.
And since I already attend well-regarded university (top 20 according to USNWR), so I don’t really mind that much even if I don’t get into any of them to be honest. If I can transfer, then I’d have more resources for what I want to major in, but I already blended in with the community here. I’ll just have to figure out a way to study it on my own.
I just found out that they consider veterans applying for the yellow ribbon program as students who are considered in need for financial aid. I’m really confused as to why schools with enormous endowments are need aware nowadays. C’est la vie.
So I know this hasn’t even been that long since I ranted about my college’s quarter system and midterm report business and miscommunications with the Brown office… but basically I got an email today from an admissions officer asking me to fill out my grades/credits for my classes last quarter and classes for this quarter. So I kept calling the office/emailing to confirm if my second transcript had arrived and they don’t give me a yes/no, and then I get asked about it by the admissions officer… Not that I have a problem with it of course. I’m just wondering if the office also has miscommunications with the officers.
All that aside, I’m pretty surprised they’re in the midst of reviewing applications right now. I guess they’re just starting mine now because I gave my app in on the last day haha
@Southerngent I wouldn’t worry! it probably doesn’t mean anything it may just be based on timing like they could’ve reviewed some people first (i applied here last year as a transfer and none of this stuff ended up meaning anything besides the spring thing)
@transfer099 Well each year they always take someone off the “Burning Bad for Brown” list, so hopefully that’ll be you! (I read an article about it once).
@JCW77 “BBB” is the alleged term used by Brown admission officers to describe applicants who continuously apply to Brown time after time, even after countless rejections.
@transfer099 I can’t speak to the legitimacy of that claim, but, if my memory serves me correct, the article was written by a retired Brown admission officer.
Sounds awesome!!! I wish they would announce it so we could celebrate it!!! If anyone gets it this year on CC we have to congratulate them like crazy!!! @transfer099 you got this!!!
@transfer099, I have a May 15th deposit deadline for another school, but my first instinct was to contact the school to ask for an extension rather than find out early from Brown.
