@1yeartransferer
How many units will you have by Spring? Are you gonna be done with prereqs?
vvv What Lucky said. You needed 2 English composition courses by last Fall.

When did you get your english done?
Just got ACCEPTED!
major: pre Economics
GPA: 3.98
Tag: Yes
IGETC: Completed by spring 2015
Pre-requisites: Completed by spring 2015, Econ and Calc1 in progress
Total transferrable units: 61
Without tag, I think I was not able to get in since I am taking Calculus this semester. Overall, tag helped alot.
Should’ve TAGed SB ugh.
Congrats @twinflower ! Basically, I have your stats but without tag.
@luckie1367
I am taking English 110 this semester. Is that the problem?
I also passed both AP English Exams Lit & Lang.
Hmm… then you should be fine.
If I were you, I’d call and politely ask if you can know the reason(s) you were rejected. BE VERY NICE. See if you have grounds to appeal, or know what to fix for next time.
@luckie1367
@sliceoflife24
I am also a one year transfer with 29 credits coming from AP Exams and I will have 31 done by this spring.
All prereqs will be done and I’ll have 60.3 transferable credits.
I was accepted in UCSD’s first batch, what did I miss that UCSB wanted???
@1yeartransferer Edit: Have you replaced econ classes with your AP scores?
@sliceoflife24
No I took all the major prereqs at a CC! There are only 3!
I did pass the AP Macro Exam with a 4, but of course I read the assist page. So I took the class and got an A. And I did not count it in my 60 units, so in reality I have 30+ AP units
I’m missing pre reqs and my GPA is much lower then those who already weren’t admitted. I wonder why my decision is still pending.
@1yeartransferer I’m sorry but I can’t figure out what the problem is. I’d call the admissions and find out. My guess is that you’re transferring in 1 year and having 30+ AP. But then again, I have no idea…
It makes me nervous as I may get denied as well. ugh
@sliceoflife24
I’m only using 29 of the 30+ and UCSD accepted me, so what the heck? The credits can’t be the issue right?
Well thank you guys I appreciate the help.
I will call and I will cry, maybe not in that order…
@1yeartransferer Is SB your first pick? SD isn’t bad of a choice…
@1YearTransferer, I’m sorry, truly. You should appeal, esp if you get a good grade in calc. There could be other reasons, but if you don’t have an actual math class, my guess it is that. They always prefer seeing a class over AP any day. That might not be the reason, so you should email them. Go to @ucsbadmissions on Twitter. They mention there how to reach them via email in various tweets. You could also just tweet them: do you take an AP exam in place of req math class with letter grade? They answer on that Twitter acct. Anyway, if that is the reason, appeal. Ppl have gotten in after they completed a math class.
@lindyk8
Is that a glimpse of white light at the end of the tunnel?!? Oh wait no its a white rabbit, its Lindyk8!!
I was definitely worried this would happen after reading your replies to this thread, but my AP Calc credit reassured me (As it is a math and offers transferable credit as opposed to the non-transferable algebra course that you were talking about earlier that works??). Though it seems it was not enough, and I will definitely email them! Unfortunately I do not have a twitter account, but I can quickly make one.
Thank you Lindyk8, I will definitely try to appeal! Although I am worried I will have to SIR to another UC, before I will be able to send my transcripts and appeal to UCSB.
Regarding SIR, you can just switch. You will lose your $100 fee, though. Be sure to SIR, in case it doesn’t work out. When I said they let ppl in, I’ve heard it work out, I can’t guarantee.
You don’t have to create a twitter account. To contact UCSB admissions: UCSB4ME@sa.ucsb.edu.
Be sure to include your UCSB ID #.
well because of some unexpected circumstances I am going to drop calc 2, So I need to call and talk to them about it.
@sliceoflife24 the comment above was for you, not sure if you were tagged or not.
My D just sent me a text that she logged in this morning and is accepted!
GPA: 3.93
IGETC: complete in spring
Major: pre communications
Pre reqs: I think she has one to complete that was not offered at her cc
Accepted: UCSB, Cal State Long Beach, SFSU
Waiting on: UCSD, SDSU, UCSC , UCR
I just received my award letter. I am slightly confused on why they would put me under off campus when I stated I would like to stay on campus. This affected my award letter. Does anyone know if this could change my award status once I apply for housing?
