Does anyone know how much legacy increases your chances? My great-grandpa and grandma both went to Yale.

If I can prove that I am a direct descendant of Elihu Yale, will I be accepted?

@milkshakezzz are you certain about May 10th being the date? I trust your word but I’m sort of waiting on Yale’s decision before accepting other transfer offers and I’m getting a little antsy.

@df0914 I am positive

@milkshakezzz awesome, thank you!

@df0914 @packman012 Bad news:

“Quinlan added that this phenomenon is especially true for the number of transfer students Yale admits each year. While the new colleges could potentially open up space for more non-Yale transfers — depending on the freshman class yield rate and the number of inter-residential college transfers to the new buildings — Quinlan said the number of transfer students admitted this year will be, like that in years past, wholly determined by the strength of the applicant pool.”

@XCX0501 aw man :confused: I’m really hoping for Yale. I was recently accepted to Penn and Columbia (2 schools that I view as comparatively very good, and therefore hard to choose between), and getting into Yale would make my decision 100% clear! (Though I know I’m extremely lucky to have been accepted to ANY Ivy League school).

Has anyone else here applied to ivies/top tier/reach schools other than Yale? Anyone gotten accepted elsewhere that they’re considering?

@df0914 Me! Accepted to Columbia, rejected from UPenn and Harvard so far

@LAtonewyork congratulations! Are you happy with Columbia, or are you hoping for Yale as well?

@df0914 I got accepted to UChicago, rejected from Harvard, and am basically just waiting on Yale and Brown

@swarleys congrats! I’m also waiting on Brown and Yale

@df0914 thanks, and congrats on Penn & Columbia! I’m excited about it, but if I got into Yale by some freak accident, I’d probably pick it :slight_smile: only a few more days, though! How are you holding up?

@swarleys thank you! And same lol. And tbh I’m having such a hard time choosing between Penn and Columbia. Praying for Yale even though they take like 25-30 people.

@df0914 25-30 is more than Harvard took, so anything’s possible!

@swarleys very true!

@df0914 In response to your original question, I am currently choosing between Northwestern, Georgetown, and UVA.

Do people know if our decision will be in the email subject or if we have to log into our portal?? I really hope we have to log into our portal first
