Hey guys! A big problem! Have you applied for financial aid? How is your package? Does UT meet your need? Is it hard to get money as a transfer student? Thank you very much!

I filled the FAFSA last month but haven’t heard anything.
Don’t we have to upgrade our UT EIDs first?

topawala20
i finished 33 and working on 12

hmmm thats weird that you still haven’t heard anything yet. i know people with 3.8-3.9 who got into McCombs already. are you sure that all 33 of your hours transfer? and what is your 2nd choice of major?

Can we change our second choice major if a decision won’t be made until May/June? If so how?

if u want to change major… u have to write a letter and send them through mail

Thanks I just found that on the website.

TMT, I just changed my second choice major. You can send the admissions department a fax requesting the change. Just get the fax number from the admissions website under contacts. They changed it within 24 hours.

Awesome, good to know. Is it wise if I change my second choice major to Undeclared LA? My first choice is Economics LA, while my original second choice was Business. I don’t have any of the indicator classes required for business therefore if I am not admitted as an Econ major, I will be auto-rejected from Business because I don’t have the classes. I won’t even be considered for it. So I was thinking i’d change it to Undeclared, so that they can atleast consider me for 2 different things, you know?

Also… if I plan on internally transferring to mccombs, what kind of classes can I take as a liberal arts major? Would I be able to take business classes? I don’t want to take a lot of useless classes, thats the only thing i’m concerned about.

Tough love.

I’m a little confused by the people that didn’t submit the optional resume, essay, and letters of rec. The applicants claim they want to get in, but just not bad enough to sit down and do a days worth of work? You’ve spent year(s), hours studying, and all nighters to maintain that solid cc GPA; however, when it comes to applying to your dream U. and the destination of your next 4 years, you do the bare minimum. Sure people get in without doing it, is it worth to chance?

Admissions with go thru numerous applicants with comparable GPAs. Who’s would you throw out first?

TMT, if it was me I would change the second major choice, but you probably know more about business than me I am trying for another major. I believe that even if you go into Liberal Arts you can still take some subjects for the major you are going to try to transfer into. The admissions person at UT told me that they prefer it, because when they look at your grades for an internal transfer they want to see that you have attempted some courses in the major you intend to transfer to. From the grades you recieve on those classes they can tell if you may or may not be able to handle the major in question that you are transferring too.

As for Liberal Arts undeclared, I am not sure how that works you may want to get some professional advice for that one. I picked a declared Liberal Arts, but I do believe that they have a General Studies major for people still deciding on a major or trying to internal transfer. Speak to an advisor so you can make the best decision. Good Luck!

ya all of the 33 hours are transferrable. the only reason i can think of of why they didnt post anything yet is probably becuz am an international student… so they make us wait till the end …

moonwatcher123,
they would post decision for international transfer student on 27th and 28th April…

also, u should have sent resume and recommendation letter… because the admission for international student is very very competitive… What makes it more difficult is that u applied for business which is highly competitive even for instate students…

but the good news is that u have 4.0 GPA that should help u to get in…

so best of luck

Sometimes though, you cannot take classes in another major because they are “restricted” to those in that major. I’m not sure about all courses in the business school, but I know that some are restricted.

My son who is an accounting major, wanted to take some kinesiology courses because he thought it would be interesting, and he couldn’t even petition his way in through the restriction.

So, you might call and check to see what you can take.

butterfly, thank you! I just read up on the School of Undergraduate Studies and this sounds perfect for transitioning into any college or major. Just curious but can you also change your major again at orientation or is that after meeting with an advisor?

topawala, do you have any stats for the people you know that got into McCombs? I already saw a few in this thread.

well i know 2 girls in my calculus 2 class that got into mccombs already.

one had a 3.9 GPA with 42 hours and all 4 business indicator classes finished and the other was also similar but had a 3.8 GPA.

any other news for you future longhorns? :P

Considering that the National Response Deadline is May 1,
I’d venture a guess that most non international- Transfer students have heard back already.

Zircushio, what part of New Jersey are you from?

Northern New Jersey, bergen county ![]()
