Official Fall Transfer 2009

Nope not yet, but I imagine i’ll hear soon… within the next 2-3 weeks probably because I just got my spring 2009 grades today (3.8 gpa for the semester, 3.8 cumulative 31 hours) and I sent my transcript today too.

This is SO nervewracking now, knowing UT will have the final piece of my application in a couple of days…and that my fate depends on them. I’m applying for LA first choice, Undergrad.studies second choice. Fingers crossed!!!

you and i are on the same boat TMT90… they just recieved all my transcripts yesterday (4.0 gpa for semester, 4.0 gpa cumulative and 41 hours completed) I am also applying LA first choice and Undergrad studies second choice! hopefully all goes well for the both of us!!

Wow cool, we really are in same boat - same majors too! Let me know how it goes!! Do you think they could reject a qualified student based on lack of space only? Or would they make room for qualified applicants? I’m just worried.

well im sure they have room still avaliable for those students who are just now finishing 30 hours. I am also very nervous but i think we shud both be good. i have asked around and rumor has it that the LA school has never rejected anyone with a 4.0 gpa, so if thats true then if there isnt any space then i would believe they would make space

also what school are you transferring from??

Does anyone know if they can review my application again for this fall. I have already been admitted to UT into Liberal Arts(my second major choice was liberal arts and first was McCombs) for this Fall of 2009. My stats were 36 hours with a 3.5 GPA when I was initially admitted to Liberal Arts. But I want to know if they can look at my this springs grade and reconsider me for McCombs again? I took 16 hours this semester and had a 3.89 GPA this semester including an A in Calculus 2(my last indicator class and now I have all A’s in all 5 indicator classes). My overall stat is now 52 hours with a 3.6 GPA. It would be really great not to have to worry about getting into McCombs internally next year.

I’m applying from UT-Arlington (non-cap). Not accepting cap was the biggest mistake ever… I never should have listened to my dad.

topawala, can’t you just request to change your major to Mccombs and they’ll review you that way?

TMT90, don’t worry about the admission because you would get into UT because your GPA is good. even i got into liberal arts with a 3.5 and your GPA is 3.8 which is way above average. And think of it this way… you didn’t accept CAP so you worked even harder to get into UT. If you would have accepted CAP, you might have been a little bit laid back because you only need a 3.2 so you wouldn’t have worked hard. and thats just my opinion about it because similar thing happened to me. I was never planning on attending UT so my first year in community college i didn’t try as hard and my GPA was 3.3. But last summer I went to visit UT and I told my self that this is where I want to be next year so I worked my a… off this year and I was able to get a 3.9 GPA. Which put my GPA to 3.6 overall. lol

and i guess i’ll just e-mail one of the advisor about my major for mccombs. I don’t think even a 3.6 is good enough for mccombs. I guess i’ll just sticket to liberal arts for now and try to get into mccombs internally.

topawala, I am also trying to transfer into mccombs internally. I applied for LA 1st choice, but if I get in i’m going to change it to undergrad. studies so that I can take the classes I need to transfer into mcccombs.

A friend of mine was accepted to McCombs as a transfer yesturday.

Hey guys, so UT finally received my final spring transcript… but status check says they are still waiting to receive it (on the top part) but on the bottom it says Transcript received 5/26. Do you think they haven’t updated that part yet? Approximately how long does it take for them to make decisions for Liberal Arts or Undergraduate studies, with a 3.8 gpa? I heard some people with higher gpas hear quicker.

hey tmt90… it take like 2 days to update it so dont worry (same thing happened to me) but on a positive note i just got ACCEPTED TODAY to my first choice major of LA.
goodluck to all

OMG!!! CONGRATS!!! Didn’t they get your final transcript a few days ago??

yea they got everything on 5/20 and i found out exactly 7 days later… dont stress it you will get in, a few of my buddies just got accepted and you are far more qualified…
goodluck!!!

I am soo surprised that many transfers (at least on this forum) got accepted. I mean its a big jump from when I was in high school and only a couple of my friends got in because of top 10% or summer admissions. But I think once you spend a year in college you realize whats important and you work harder (assuming grades were the issue). Even though I think I have a good chance of getting this time around, I think its just the mentality of “well maybe i’m still not good enough”. UT is a dream for me and my family thats why i’m stressed so much. I probably check status check 2-3 times a day even though I know I won’t see anything.

I just called admissions to make sure my transcript really was received, because at the top of the page it says it hasn’t been received but on the bottom it says it was received. The admissions lady said its because admissions hasn’t sent in my file for evaluation yet, and when it is submitted for evaluation then my status will say I am being reviewed. Also she said there are alot of transcripts needing review right now and all decisions will be made by mid-June which she said is 2 weeks, and that they will need to speed things up a bit.

Just putting that out there for you other transfers out there waiting for a decision!

Hang in there TMT90 and let us know when you hear the good news.

Thanks MidwestMom! My status check was changed this afternoon to the “currently being reviewed” status, so I should hear pretty soon. If all goes well my only concern will be what orientation date to choose and housing.

I’VE BEEN ACCEPTED!!! FIRST CHOICE LIBERAL ARTS!!! Wow SO QUICK they just got my transcripts a day ago!!!

congrats!!! i told you that you would get in easily. lol
