Official Fall Transfer 2009

And don’t forget to leave soom room for the people who have to finish spring semester first too!! Thats pretty nerve wracking too, having to keep up those grades. But seriously, congratulations you guys!

My buddy got rejected today with a 3.8 for McCombs. So rejections are going out too and if you haven’t heard it could be worst. I’m pulling for all posters on here

I think that they are doing it by colleges…anyone from the Cockrell Engineering school heard yet?

Nate, thanks for the veteran comment. I’m sure your tour was a little more brutal than mine. Your veteran status/deployment will score some major points. Keep us updated

Congrats! I’m going to buy y’all a cyberdrink.

Mmm, still says “currently reviewing your application”
I applied to LA (Economics)

We’ve received all the items that are required to review and process your application. The Admissions Committee is currently reviewing your application for admission. Once we reach a decision, you’ll be notified by mail and your decision will be posted on this page.

^ Still haven’t heard, I’m applying from New Jersey so that can be the indication. I applied to the natural sciences too, so maybe they haven’t finished their review of my application. Ah, I’m so nervoussss!!!

CONGRATS to everyone who was accepted. You guys deserve it! :D

I’ve had that same message zircushio since March 10th. This time last month, I had severely overestimated what UT meant when it said currently.

Where you from in Jersey? I was born in Long Branch in the Asubry Park park area

ahh the home of bruce springsteen! haha
i’m from northern jersey, lyndhurst. its like 10 minutes away from manhattan

and i’ve had the message since march too – hopefully it goes well for us out of staters.

mcavelloxx, I also applied to LA economics. What are your stats?

Not that great…

3.5 GPA
30 hours
Strong letter of rec.
A bit of volunteer work.
A bunch of work experience (may not even count…who knows)

Those are pretty good stats for LA. I just hope my second semester gpa will be as high as my first semester.

If I take a class or two at a cc this summer, how will that effect my transfer decision? Like say when I get my UT decision by late May/early June I decide to take economics and speech. These are typical general education classes that should count at UT right, so if I get accepted to UT and take classes, will they re-evaulate my application after sending a decision or will the classes transfer?

Hey Everyone,

Has anyone gotten any transfer acceptances into Communications yet?

Clint, so the 33 hours, that means you already have completed 33 hours? or you will have 33 hours by the end of the semester?

also your gpa…does that include your dual credit gpa(that is, if you had dual credit)?

ericniel, to your buddy that got rejected, can you post his stats??

thanks and congrats :D

i will have 30+ transfer credits by the end of the semester so i guess i will hear by june? im a bit worried because of my dual credit gpa affecting my mccombs gpa. got b’s in trig and precal but got a’s in cal and cal2

I’m also concerned that I might come up with a C in calculus. So far I have a B, but with our last exam and our final coming up, i’m not sure. Would 4 As and 1 C second semester hurt me if I had 3 As and 1 B first semester and an A from cc?

I already have 33 hours completed and I will have ~44 hours completed (Astronomy won’t transfer D=) by the end of this semester. I don’t know what you mean by dual credit but I took all my classes at a university (no CLEP or AP exams).

Advice to future transfer applicants, take Calculus I your fall semester by waiving the pre-cal/trig prerequisite. Pre-cal doesn’t prepare you for Cal I and you’ll learn all the trig you need in your Cal I class. Though you may struggle in Cal II when learning applications of integration if you don’t take trig.

Nope I haven’t heard either from engineering…its driving me crazy that other people already know gahhh!

Strider, the buddy’s stats that got declined…

McCombs:
-3.8 GPA
-45-ish hours
-US Navy veteran - Fought in War on Terrorism
-Just 2 business indicator courses complete
-Weak letter of rec (random professor)
-Didn’t do a resume/optional essay

We appeared to be the same applicant with the military background, and he even had the better GPA. He just waited too long to do all his application stuff.

I don’t think applying late was the reason he didn’t get accepted into McCombs. I sent my application 2 minutes before it was due and I got accepted.

What lowered his chances was probably:

-Just 2 business indicator courses complete
-Didn’t do a resume/optional essay

Clint, I meant that he waited so long to do his application check list that he didn’t put in the time he should have for each item. He called me two weeks before the deadline asking what do to. He could have gotten letters of rec from high ranking military officers, did the optional stuff, etc. but didn’t have time.

Mcal, you’re dead on. His GPA was money, but it goes to show that you need to be well rounded. Cover all your bases.
