anna93: since you have an associate you might have some advantage but your GPA still puts you on the lower end of the spectrum.

and i guess today wasn’t the day either because only 1 person on this forum heard from UT.

Hang in there! Monday must be the day then.

Congratulations fusionshrimp!

im guessing all that heard have been in state?

Rejected. Both first (Natural Sciences- Biology) and second choice (Liberal Arts - Psychology) majors…found out 5am this morning. I’m pretty crushed. Best of luck to everyone.

Sorry anna93, what were your stats?

She posted them halfway up the page earlier.

3.11 / 80+ hours from 90’s

What happens if you have a high gpa and good stats but you aren’t accepted to your first or second major. Will UT offer you admission to liberal arts undeclared?

I may be wrong, but I think that choice is just for incoming freshmen. It’s a new designation for this year, so I’m not that familiar with it. There may be information on Bealonghorn site.

ya i think ag54 is right. it might just be for incoming freshmens who are in the top 10%. because of the top 10% rule where you can’t reject them so they have to give them admission no matter what.

I got in!!! chemical engineering- first choice! :)

Congrats!!! What are your stats?

Congrats texasgirl!

Just curious, what were your stats?

I’m still waiting and its freaking killing me.

In case anyone wanted to know, I just called up admissions right now and the average gpa for admitted students to Liberal Arts last semester was 3.5. She looked at my gpa and told me I have a 3.81 because of a 4 credit class I made an A in at community college. I had no idea they combined cc gpa with your university gpa!! She sounded optimistic that I would be accepted after they get my transcript but of course she couldn’t give me a firm answer. She just complimented my grades and asked if they were still doing good.

An interesting thing I found out last year is that they also used gpa from any dual credit courses that you took while in highschool because they show up as community college hours.

A couple of friends of my son’s found out the hard way when they were rejected because of gpa. They were shocked because their college gpa’s were high, but when they called the admissions, they were told that the C’s (:() they got in dual credit brought their cumulative gpa’s down.

Bummer!!

That is a total bummer!! I took my cc class my junior year of high school because at the time I thought I was going to stay in cc for a year or two then transfer, and so I tried to get a class out of the way. Instead of being at cc for a year, i’m at a university. I’m lucky that I made an A and that it was 4 credits because my gpa has now been boosted from 3.75 to 3.81. Thats a big difference in the eyes of admissions, it seems.

TMT90, there’s a huge difference between 3.5 and 3.81 :P

Has anyone heard from the Communications School yet?

Has anyone wanting to major in Pharm or pre-pharm heard yet?

hey i was wondering if anyone knew what my chances mite be of getting into COLA… i have a 4.0 gpa but i only have 28 hours completed so far but i am working on 13 hours this semester… i will more than likely recieve all A’s again but i am worried about my chances due to the fact that i will find out mid june

u’ll be fine. dont worry about it
